After a moment, Blake gently ran their fingers through Kye’s hair, humming softly. They did like to take care of the other, even though Kye didn’t need it too much.

Kye leaned into their touch some, enjoying the comforting motion. He wanted to comment about whatever tune it was Blake was humming, but worried it would make them stop. The boy thought it sounded pretty.

Blake honestly wasn’t sure, they’d just started humming the first thing that popped into their head. But they were glad that Kye seemed to like it.

Kye smiled up at Blake, reaching to take their free hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze before interlocking their fingers together. "I'm really thankful for you, y'know."

Derlik watched the two boys interact, a small smile coming to his face. He had to admit, they were cute together. The only reason he didn't think they'd make a cute couple was because he wasn't a heterosexual twat that forced relationships onto any child that showed affection for someone else.

“How so? I don’t really contribute much as far as I see.” Blake said, tilting their head a bit in confusion.

Kye turned to move and sit on Blake's lap. His expression was completely serious, smile having left his face. "Stop that. You've helped me when I'm sad, I don't hate talking about the past anymore because of you, you're really nice to me, and… and you're my first friend I've ever had outside of my village," he said, beginning to ramble at the end, playing with his hands some.
