"Well, I don't think you're weird," Matthew said, smiling as he kissed Rowan's cheek again.
"Well, I don't think you're weird," Matthew said, smiling as he kissed Rowan's cheek again.
"Mm… I wonder if anything else is different?" He wondered aloud. "Aside from having wings, obviously."
"well, it would make sense if there was," Matthew said, thinking.
"Yeah, it would. I mean, we look pretty similar in general build and stuff, but I'm sure it would be wild if we did an X-ray or something."
"X-ray..?" Matthew pondered, head tilted. "What is that?"
"Oh, um… it's like a machine that we use that can scan your body, and it shows pictures of your skeleton. It's… kinda hard to explain in a way that doesn't sound super weird."
"Ah, really? That sounds… strange, I must admit." Matthew chuckled some, in good humor.
"Y-Yeah." Rowan laughed softly. "I'm saying that our bone structure would probably be different since yours has to allow for wings and stuff."
"Most likely," Matthew agreed. "We have a very intricate skeletal system when it comes to our backs."
"Yeah. We don't have as much. I mean… we've got our spine, some ribs, shoulder blades… but not a whole lot else."
"Really? We have…. a lot of bones," Matthew admitted, laughing softly.
"I think humans have… 206 bones total." Rowan thought for a moment before nodding, seeming more sure of his answer.
"We have about 230," Matthew said in turn, nodding. "I think most of them would be in our wings, then."
"Probably, yeah. And some more in your back to support the wings, I guess." He hummed thoughtfully. "I wonder if you've got different organs too?"
"If not entirely different, then at least different in some ways," Matthew mused. "Since we technically live in two different environments."
"Yeah. Hopefully we won't get sick or anything in the new environment."
"Hopefully," Matthew said. He hummed softly, moving to kiss Rowan's head. "I'm sure you won't, though."
Rowan nodded a bit. "Yeah, yeah… I'm sure it'll be great. It'll be nice to be out of New York."
"Mhm! That place was… overwhelming," Matthew said, remembering the too large, too loud city.
"You get used to it, but it's always a lot, honestly. There's a lot of people. Very crowded, very busy."
"I'm not sure I would have been able to get used to that," Matthew admitted. "Just the city we were in here was a lot for me."
"Yeah. It's definitely a lot if you're not used to it. I was born there, though, so I just grew up in that environment."
"Think you'll be able to get used to a world without that?" Matthew looked to Rowan, curious.
"Yeah, I think I'll like it." Rowan smiled softly. "It'll be good to get out of the hustle and bustle."
"Okay, then, I'm thankful for that." Matthew offered a small smile, kissing Rowan's head.
Rowan nodded a bit, humming softly to himself. "I will miss the easy transportation, though."
Matthew chuckled softly at that.
"We're almost home," he assured. "One more day, think you can handle it?"
"I think I'll make it." Rowan laughed weakly. "You probably saw a couple cars during your brief visit to our world."
"Yes, I did," Matthew said, nodding. "It was… strange."
"They're nice, though. They get you places pretty quickly, and you don't get tired like you do when you're flying."
