Matthew chuckled faintly.
"Awake enough to talk?" He asked softly, hugging Rowan close.

"Mmmm… I guess so…" Rowan mumbled in reply, sitting up to rub at his tired eyes.

Matthew let his wings go loosely around them, holding Rowan's hand as he took a deep breath.
"Well…"

Rowan looked up at Matthew curiously, hesitating before linking his fingers with the other man's.

Matthew readied himself for this, looking at Rowan.
"You see, I…" He shook his head a bit. "Well, oh lord this is a lot more difficult to say out loud than I thought…"

Rowan seemed confused, still looking up at Matthew. "What is it, Matthew? Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong!" Matthew said quickly. He let out a breath, smiling some. "It's- I-"

Rowan glanced over to his mother, who was smiling softly, before looking back up at Matthew with a bewildered expression.

Matthew took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"You see… I…" The avian blushed some. "Love you."

Rowan flushed a bit, seeming surprised. That definitely wasn't what he was expecting to hear first thing after waking up. "O-Oh! I… I love you too…" He replied softly.

Matthew grinned, pulling Rowan into a big hug. He let out a happy trill, kissing the side of Rowan's head.

Rowan smiled softly and huddled closer to Matthew. He was still a bit tired, but he was happy nonetheless.

"So… are you willing to be my partner?" Matthew asked softly. He rested his head on Rowan's, wings around them still.

"Yeah, of course… we won't get harassed or anything for that here, right?" He asked softly.

"No, we won't," Matthew assured. He hummed, kissing Rowan's cheek gently.

"Alright… I wasn't sure since people probably aren't used to humans." Rowan sighed softly, flushing a bit at the kiss.

"Mm…" Matthew let his eyes close, hugging Rowan tight. Then he looked to Rowan's mother, smiling some. He'd finally done it.

Rowan's mother smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "Mm… what time is it?" Rowan asked softly.

"Dinner time, actually." Matthew turned his attention to the cooking food, pulling some over onto a makeshift plate.

"Mmkay." Rowan accepted food when it was offered to him, huddling a bit closer to Matthew as he ate.

Matthew smiled, gently kissing Rowan's head as they ate. He offered some food to Rowan's mother as well, smiling still. He was quite happy.

She accepted the food and started quietly eating, keeping an eye on the two boys. "Are we traveling more after dinner?" Rowan asked.

"We could," Matthew said, "But I think we planned on resting for the night here. It's a nice enough place to." He hummed some, kissing Rowan's cheek.

"Sounds fine to me…" Rowan huddled a bit closer to Matthew after he finished eating, seeming pretty content.

Matthew settled down after the meal as well, leaning against a tree.
"Mm…" He yawned, eyes closing.

Rowan closed his eyes and yawned as well, relaxing against Matthew's chest. "Mmm… g'night…"

"Good night…" Matthew let out a breath, moving to lay down with Rowan in his arms still.

It didn't take too long for Rowan to fall asleep, and he was still asleep in Matthew's arms in the morning.

Matthew woke up in the morning, looking down at Rowan and gently kissing his head.
"Mm…" The avian yawned, snuggling closer.

Rowan stirred a bit and yawned, looking up at Matthew sleepily. "Mmmm…?"
