Emile was already plotting, planning how to contact Alec and how to escape.
Astral didn't doubt the being was trying to find a way to escape- he'd be in for a nasty surprise when it was time for both of them to leave the room. Thankfully Simon didn't go in the living room by Astral's room anymore.
((Oof I’m afraid))
“Hey Astral?” He called out, being quiet enough so he wouldn’t wake Simon. “Where do you want me to go when he wakes up in the morning?”
(Yeahhh, that thing Astral seems to do to every single soul that comes into his palace is totally gonna happen to Emile, sorry :( )
"You'll come with me," Astral said calmly. Always quiet, for Simon's sake. "To the living room."
((It’s okay he’s a strong boi he’ll make it))
He nodded. “Got it.” He said softly. He didn’t like this, but he wouldn’t cause problems for now.”
(Yeayyy)
"Good." Astral wasn't just going to let this being run around willy-nilly in his home. He'd keep them under lock and key when there was nothing they could do for Simon.
((He suffered through damnation for at least a century because he may or may not have murdered 2/3 of his town when he was alive))
Emile returned his full attention to Simon. He just hoped Simon wouldn’t find out, it’d upset him greatly, especially if Alec couldn’t control himself and showed up as well.
(D: WHAT)
Astral watched as Emile turned back to Simon, falling silent himself. He had no idea there was another party involved, and he would make sure this being was never near Simon during the day, and in a form Simon wouldn't be able to recognize anyway.
((Yeah Alec convinced him to do it and then felt bad after leaving him to damnation lol))
Emile promised himself he wouldn’t slip up and accidentally tell Astral about Alec. It really wouldn’t end up well if Astral went after the others.
(D:< Alec how dare-)
No, it wouldn't. Not at all. So, the god kept watch over Emile and Simon as the night continued, never moving from his place by the door.
((I can’t believe I forgot to mention that to you before lol))
Emile didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, staying in his place the whole night, not saying anything else to Astral.
(aha lol)
Astral didn't say anything else either, not until morning began to approach.
"It's nearly sunrise," the god noted, pushing off the wall. "We'd best be leaving."
Emile nodded, planting a gentle kiss to the top of Simon’s head before standing up, going over to Astral’s side.
Astral watched Emile kiss Simon's head, setting his hand on the being's shoulder to keep him from trying to run as he opened the door to leave.
Emile didn’t try to run, choosing to do what he was told until he figured out what was in store for him. At the very least, he knew his actions wouldn’t result in Simon being hurt. He could see, in Astral’s very twisted view, that the god loved Simon.
Astral led Emile through the halls, never once taking his hand off of their shoulder. He brought the being into the living room, turning to him. The trinkets watched, curious. That wasn't a human.
Emile looked up at him silently. He wasn’t afraid of whatever the god had in store for him. He’d experienced a lot of things in his afterlife.
Astral lifted his hand from Emile's shoulder finally, moving it to take ahold of his head. It took more, since Emile wasn't human, but it didn't change the end product- Emile sat in Astral's palm, a cold stone statue.
Emile didn’t move during the process, just closing his eyes and trying to relax, counting down from 20. It was over before he reached 7. And for some reason, he didn’t panic, because he knew he’d make it out of this okay.
Astral looked down at Emile for a moment, then set the small statue on one of the high shelves. He wouldn't hurt them- he needed them, for Simon's sake. Emile was safe, for now. What would happen when he couldn't help Simon anymore, though?
When it reached that point, Emile would probably kill himself, knowing Alec would bring him back to life as soon as he could. There was no reason for Astral to bother them after that.
If Astral gave him the chance to do that, of course. How could one kill themselves when they were a statue?
Mia shifted some in bed, pressing closer to Simon. She'd felt… strange, throughout the night, but it was gone now. She hadn't lost any sleep over it, either.
Simon was peacefully asleep in bed, absolutely passed out. He felt so relaxed, so safe, like nothing and no one could hurt him. He’d probably sleep for a few more hours if he was uninterrupted.
Of course, Alec noticed rather quickly when the status of one of his souls changed. He’d been paying extra attention the entire night, having finally given Emile permission to go check up on Simon. He stopped what he was doing, focusing on his bond with Emile. He felt a bit of relief wash over him when he figured out Emile was in no immediate danger but he recognized this feeling from Emile, a steely determination. So Emile was facing down the god then, in one way or another? Alec wasn’t surprised. And even though he knew the soul couldn’t hear him, he mumbled under his breath “stay safe.”
And uninterrupted he would be. Mia was dead asleep herself, and Astral wasn't about to go anywhere near them while they slept. He glanced up when he finally noticed the bond Emile had with… something else. So, that could explain some of this, then. Astral felt strange, to know Simon was being watched over by someone tied to a different belief, a different pantheon or whatever they came from, but there was nothing he could do about that now.
Emile had no intention of giving the information of who he was tied to over to Astral, knowing it would lead Astral not just to his lover but to the couple of dozen souls Alec had in his possession at the moment. They were like Emile’s family, and he wouldn’t seal all of their fates like that.
It wasn't clear just what Astral might do if he found out- maybe nothing at all. Or, it could be a total and complete massacre. One could never tell.
The god sat down, then, on the couch, folding his legs as he picked up one of the other trinkets.
Emile wasn’t worried about their lives ending permanently, they’d all be revived but it could take lifetimes. And by then it’d be too late to help Simon.
That's right, it would be- Simon would already be wiped and brainwashed by then. Astral's perfect lover after all.
The god hummed some, glancing up at his newest addition. He was right- he really did enough showing them off like trophies.
((Brooooooo Astral’s definitely going to brainwash him at one point and I’m not okay :’) ))
Emile sat on the shelf, not necessarily content but he was okay. He didn’t trust Astral one bit. The god’s sympathy act hadn’t bought him over. Even if Astral cared about Simon, it was in a very destructive way.
(Neither am I :') )
It was right of Emile to not trust Astral. The being would have a front-row seat to what the god did next; he turned the trinket in his hand back into a human, turning them over in his hands, examining the body he already had memorized. The human had no response to any of this- just a blank, dead stare.
