Astral wouldn't do that, but there was no way for Simon to know that. He wanted this child, he wanted them so badly; but he could never say their father didn't love them. That he didn't care. Simon still even having the child was more than enough proof. That he was going to stay for the child's sake.
Really, an utterly unhealthy and horrible thing for all of them.
And it truly would be extremely unhealthy for all of them, especially Simon. He’d work himself to death trying to be the perfect parent, remembering all too well what it felt like growing up without a loving parent.
Mia would do her best to stop it, if she didn't take her own life first. Astral would do his best to protect Simon too, even if it meant forcing him out of the child's life.
No matter what happened, this kid was definitely going to have some issues, that much was for certain. And Simon would definitely have a few more issues by the end of all of this.
((Also Simon still doesn’t know that Alec and Emile are real, he thought they were just figments of his imagination so that’s an oof))
(Oof, that's going to be… something, to learn about XD)
The kid's biggest issue: Astral. Still, he would do his best, even if it wasn't much. He would love that child with all of his tiny, shriveled heart. Let's just hope there was still room for Simon.
As long as the god had enough room in his heart to love the kid, that would be enough for Simon.
Mia let out a breath as the movie continued, looking over at Simon to see him lost in thought. She didn't say a word, just moving closer.
After a few more minutes in thought, Simon shook himself out of it. He leaned his head on her shoulder, returning his attention to the movie again.
Mia relaxed when she saw Simon come out of it, a small smile coming to her lips.
It was something that had been happening more and more frequently, Simon suddenly going into deep thought, sometimes only for thirty seconds and other times for whole minutes.
It was… A bit concerning, but Mia brushed it off. There was a lot to think about, after all.
Simon had always had a bit of a dissociation problem, but it always became more prominent when he was stressed and had lots on his mind.
(god you and me both Simon)
Mia let out a soft him as the movie was coming to is close, giving Simon's hand a light squeeze.
Simon looked over at her, smiling softly before returning his attention to the last few minutes of the movie.
Mia let out a soft giggle as Mulan's grandmother spoke with Shang, resting her head on Simon's shoulder.
"A good movie," she concluded, smiling.
“Mhm.” He agreed, resting his head on top of hers. “They’re so happy together, look at them.” He smiled.
"They are," Mia said, agreeing softly. She wished she could be that happy, her lover's arms around her again…
Simon was having a similar feeling at this point as well, his brain deciding that right now was the best time to remind him of how good things had been with Evan. He sighed softly. After all these years, he still wasn’t over it.
Mia closed her eyes at the thoughts, turning her face more into Simon's shoulder. No, no- they were going to have a good day. They could get through this without a breakdown.
Simon wrapped his arms around her gently, not saying anything.
Mia let out a soft sigh.
"Well, what shall we do now?" She offered a weak smile as she tried not to let the thoughts of her lover come back.
“It’s kind of late should we just…go to sleep?” He asked, looking up at her.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." Mia chuckled some, a yawn escaping. Hopefully, they could have an even better day tomorrow…
Simon had the same hope. He hoped that if Astral did show up, the god would at least try to be nicer. “Well let’s go then.” He said with a small chuckle.
Mia stood, nodding.
"I think I'm going to take a shower before I settle down for the night," she said, smiling slightly. "See you in a bit?"
“O-okay. I’ll wait up for you.” He said. He was a bit hesitant to let her out of his sight, but he also wanted to trust her.
Mia gently took Simon's hands in hers, giving them an assuring squeeze before leaving the room.
Simon walked slowly back to their room, settling down on the bed. He kept looking back up at the door every couple of minutes, paying attention to how much time was passing.
Mia did her best to keep her shower quick, but she couldn't help but take her time cleaning her hair. It had been a while since she'd had the time, and it needed it. Soon, though, she was coming back to the door to the room.
Simon heard her approaching footsteps and allowed himself to relax. He rubbed at his now aching jaw, regretting having clenched it so hard. But the ache was already fading, so it wasn’t anything else for him to worry about.
