Nik kept playing, going from song to song without much organization to which songs he was playing when.
Nik kept playing, going from song to song without much organization to which songs he was playing when.
Ash dozed contently for a while, but after about a half hour Kieran slowly slipped out from underneath his fellow demon before wandering to where Nik was practicing.
Nik was tapping his foot faintly as he played, not paying much attention to anything going on around him, far too concentrated on the music he was playing.
He settles into a chair quietly and shuts his eyes while he listened intently. His head tilts to the side, his eyes shutting. The music was nice and very calming to him.
He continued to play, the notes smooth and fast, thankfully not squeaky or out of tune.
He gave a tiny smile as he listened, he sighed in pleasure as he listened. He wanted to hear more. It was very enchanting.
He kept playing, still not noticing that Kieran was in the room with him. Smoke was asleep on the bed, stretched out contentedly.
Kieran shut his eyes as he relaxed, a small smile on his lips. He swayed a little with the music, his body moving with the beat.
After a little longer, Nik stopped playing and went to put the violin away. If he played for too long his fingers started to cramp, and that was the last thing he wanted right now.
He almost let out an audible whine, his eyes softening a little bit. He didn't want the violin to stop, but he understood that the other might be tired.
He looked up and jumped a little when he spotted Kieran. "Oh– I didn't know you were in here." he said quietly, giving a sheepish smile.
Kieran smiled a little bit, "Sorry to disturb." He chuckles quietly. "I just really like your music. Ash and I fell asleep to it… but I wanted to hear more. You're really good at it." He hummed and stood a little. "Sorry for disturbing you." He bows a little, gently taking his hand and kissing the back of it. "If you don't need anything I'll take my leave."
Nik blinked quickly at the kiss, really not sure how to respond to it. "Oh– it's fine, I was just startled. And…I'd continue, but it starts to cramp my fingers if I play for too long."
He chuckles and nods. "The pain of a performer. Trust me. Ash and I both know the pain. We have some pieces from centuries ago. They're rather quite beautiful if you're ever interested." He chuckles into his hand. "And once again, sorry for bothering you. It was very stunning."
Nik smiled a little bit. "Thanks. I'd love to play them sometime, though I'll need to practice them quite a bit before they sound anywhere near any good." He laughed faintly.
He chuckles at the others words. "Maybe if Ash lets you, you could go into his library and find the pieces, hm?" He hummed and settled into a chair. "You're very good at it."
"If he lets me." He agreed, sitting down in his own chair. "And I know I'm good at it, but that doesn't mean I can play something perfectly the very first time I play it." He laughed faintly.
He chuckles, "As brash and as cold as Ash may seem, he's a big softie." He smiles a little bit. He nods at the others words. "No worries, it takes time." He hummed. "Ash is surprisingly good at violin. I'm sure he'd play for you at some point."
He smiled a little. "Yeah." He replied, running a hand through his dark curls. "It would be interesting if he was willing to play, I'd love to hear it."
Kieran nods before sighing sadly. "He stopped playing a little while ago. It was like he lost his spark and his love for music. He seemed to really love your playing though." He hummed and glanced at Nik, "How long have you been playing?"
His eyebrows twitched faintly, but didn't ask why Ash had lost his spark. "I've been playing for…" He thought for a moment, then said, "maybe eight years? I think? I'm 23, and I started playing when I was 15, so yeah, about seven or eight years."
Kieran nods a little. "That's a long time. It's no wonder you're so good at it." He chuckles quietly and leans back in the chair he had settled in. "What else do you enjoy?" He asks curiously, his eyes bright.
"It is a long time, yes." He agreed, thinking for a moment. "Mm… reading, I suppose." He wasn't quite sure what else he could really say.
He nods and smiles, "I guessed that from how quickly you found our library. I hope the creatures within didn't bother you too much?" He asks quietly. He didn't want to cause the other anxiousness, however some of the creatures within the library were dangerous.
"I…didn't see any." He said slowly. "Should I be worried about them?" He frowned faintly, running a hand through his hair and studying Kieran uncertainly.
Kieran hummed in thought before nodding a little bit. "Yes, you should be careful. Some are lower class demons, and I would definitely be careful of the owl…. she doesn't show up often, but when she does, it's usually best to hide or call one of us." He shrugs a little bit and smiles.
"Oh. Okay." He replied with a faint nod. "I'll, uhm, keep that in mind. Thanks." He smiled faintly, biting his lip for a moment. Smoke stretched and yawned where he lay on the bed, purring faintly.
He nods and smiles a little, "Our home is a little strange, I'll admit that." He chuckles to himself before humming and moving to where Smoke was, gently petting him.
"Yes, just a little." He laughed quietly. Smoke opened his eyes sleepily, blinking up at Kieran and purring happily.
He laughed as well, petting Smoke gently and glancing over at Nik. "So I am genuinely curious. Mind telling me whatever about yourself, Nik?" He tilts his head to the side slightly.
