"Sure, sounds good to me." Larkin returned the kiss and kept working, humming softly to himself as he did so.
"Sure, sounds good to me." Larkin returned the kiss and kept working, humming softly to himself as he did so.
Samul hummed in turn, settling back into his chair as he started finishing up the paper he was working on.
It took Larkin another hour or two, but he finally finished his work and leaned back in his chair with a relieved sigh.
Samul looked up when it seemed Larkin was finally done.
"You good, sweetie?" The man asked. He stood, going over to wrap his arms around Larkin from behind.
"Mhmm… just really braindead…" Larkin groaned and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Oh, I get that," Samul said with a soft laugh. He kissed Larkin's forehead, staying close.
Larkin closed his eyes and relaxed a bit at the kiss, turning his ears back a bit. "Mmm… what game do you wanna play?"
"Well, something low on brainpower needed," Samul said with a chuckle.
"How about something like checkers?"
"Yeah, sure. Sounds fine to me." Larkin yawned and got up out of his chair.
Samul hugged Larkin for a moment more, then moved to the coffee table. He reached under to the shelf, pulling out the checkers board to set it up.
Larkin followed Samul over and sat down next to the table, humming softly to himself. "It's been a while since I played this."
"Yeah, me too." Samul sat down as well, putting the pieces on the board quietly.
Larkin watched the board curiously and moved pieces whenever it was his turn. It was obvious that he wasn't great at the game, but he was trying his best.
Samul wasn't going to admit it, but he was sandbagging some so he didn't just outright win. He gave Larkin chances when he could, making sure everything was fair.
Larkin always seemed pretty pleased with himself when he managed to capture one of Samul's pieces, but he clearly wouldn't be able to win. Either way, he seemed to be having a good time.
Samul took his time, letting Larkin have the fun he needed.
"King me," The man said, placing his piece on the row closest to Larkin.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Larkin asked, looking at the board with confusion to try and figure out what he'd missed.
"I reached your side of the board," Samul said softly, pointing.
Larkin stuck his tongue out a bit, pouting. "But that's no fun."
(Me, who doesn't know how to play checkers:)
(:0)
"Aww, Larkin," Samul said with a small chuckle. "It's the rules!"
(My family plays more obscure games lmao)
"Yeah, yeah…" Larkin stuck his tongue out a bit and turned Samul's piece into a king. (Presuming that's how that works sdfghj)
(Aaa got it)
(And yeah close enough ghfjgh)
Samul watched as Larkin flipped his piece over to the king side, humming. He chuckled a bit, leaning over to kiss Larkin's cheek.
"How come you're so good at this game?" Larkin asked as he moved another piece forward.
"I've had a lot of practice in the past," Samul said. "Way, way too much for my own good."
"Hmph. I never had anybody to play with…" Larkin watched Samul take another one of his pieces and huffed.
"Well, then we can play together and figure it out," Samul said. "Or pick a game you know how to play better next time." Samul set the captured piece down, smiling some.
"Yeah, yeah…" Larkin hummed softly to himself as he moved his own pieces. "I think you're gonna win."
'Well, I just might," Samul agreed. He moved his piece then, leaving an opening.
Larkin managed to pick up on it this time and captured one of Samul's pieces, seeming quite pleased with himself.
Samul held back a smile, moving to take his turn again.
"Good job, Larkin," the man noted, leaning to kiss Larkin's cheek.
