Astral couldn't help but go to his knees. He looked at Simon's stomach, the bump there.
"My… child…" Tears came to the god's eyes- he moved forward some, lightly placing a hand on Simon's baby bump. Afraid if he touched anymore, it would all be a dream.
Simon was having to physically force himself to not cry, squeezing his eyes shut to try and block it out. He dug his nails into his palms, wanting nothing more than to push Astral away from him.
"M-My child…" Astral didn't see his affect on Simon- he was too focused. He gently rested his forehead to Simon's stomach, holding back a sob. He was a father, this was his child…
Simon of course didn’t say a word. He’d just have to tolerate this for as long as it lasted. And this moment was probably when he completely realized that Astral only ever saw him as a tool for getting what he wanted. Nothing more. Not ever.
Astral stayed still for a moment, then pulled away. That's… that's when he finally looked up at Simon himself. Any positive feelings he had from the child left in an instant.
"S-Simon…"
“Can you fix her now?” He asked, barely managing to keep his voice steady and emotionless as he spoke. He didn’t make eye contact with Astral though, not strong enough at the moment to do that.
((I’m not crying you’re crying)
(I will at least admit to it ~,~)
"I…" Astral had the opposite problem- he found himself unable to look away from Simon. The hurt, the pain there… It wasn't worth it. Even still, he shifted over, taking Mia gently in his hands. He covered her jaw, starting to heal it.
"I'm so… so, so sorry…" the god kept looking at Simon, the tears spilling over.
(Grammarly: Your work sounds worried, direct, and sad!)
(Me: Y-Yeah it does…)
((I’m supposed to be doing homework but instead I’m bawling on the floor :’) ))
Simon simply ignored him, knowing that if he reacted at all, he’d just start crying, and he didn’t want that. Besides, he didn’t even want Astral’s apology, what was the point of it when the god’s actions weren’t going to change.
(Me too TT.TT)
"I'm so s-sorry…" Astral's head finally hung as his tears hit the floor.
"So, so sorry…" The god hiccuped and stuttered, his body shaking. All the feelings he'd been trying to run from when he locked himself away came pouring back…
Simon didn’t even know how to respond to the way the god was acting. But he didn’t trust it. He picked up the blanket from off the floor where he’d dropped it, wrapping it back around himself silently. He just wanted to go back to his room, with Mia, and hide.
Mia was healed by now. When she realized where she was, she scrambled to get out of Astral's arms, a sob finding it's way out of her closing throat. All the gusto from the day she'd screamed about how much she hated him was gone. She got to her feet as quickly as she could, stumbling some as she hurried to Simon.
"L-Let's get, out-"
Astral didn't do anything to stop this. He was frozen there, sobbing softly as he was forced to face just what he had done to SImon.
Simon had finally been able to look at the god, and found himself unable to feel bad for him. That man had put him through hell and then abandoned him to deal with the aftermath. He couldn’t let himself feel bad just because Astral was realizing how damaging his actions were. Simon still had no guarantees that Astral wouldn’t do the same thing again if given the chance. Mia stumbling over sort of snapped him back to the present. He nodded silently, taking her hand and quickly pulled the both of them back to their room, slamming the door behind him, his only true sign of anger.
Mia clung to Simon for a moment once they were back into the room.
"He- he-" The woman's hand came shakily to her jaw, letting out another sob.
“I-I know. I-I’m s-sorry I should’ve come out s-sooner.” He stammered out, trying not to completely lose it while Astral was still in the hallway.
Mia shook her head some. She let out another sob, hugging Simon tightly.
“H-he healed you completely, right?” He asked carefully, wrapping his arms around her gently. He wanted to make sure Astral really had held up his end of the bargain.
Mia nodded her head weakly.
"I-I… y-you- okay?" Her words came out in sobs and whimpers, voice shaking.
“N-no, not really.” He’d managed to calm down enough to not break down in front of Astral but he was shaking practically uncontrollably now. “I-I…” he trailed off, not able to find the words to describe just how awful he was feeling. He was still terrified that the god would come bursting through the door.
Mia kept her face hidden. She… she couldn't do it, anything.
"H-Hide," she sai through tears.
“W-what?” He asked, a bit confused. He looked up at the door, double checking that Astral wasn’t trying to barge in.
"Don't- If, i-if he co-omes in…" Mia let out a soft sob. She didn't want him to be able to just barge in and take them away, to decide he was tired of these games.
“W-why?” He asked softly. His mind was a bit slow at the moment, still being in a sort of fight or flight response mode.
"Don't- Don't wanna… wanna make it easy…" Mia shook some, nuzzling close for some form of stolen comfort.
He nodded. “O-okay…” he said softly, pulling Mia close to him. He needed to be comforted just as much as she did right now. “I w-will.” He was still scared that the god would sit outside their door or something and refuse to leave.
Mia wrapped her arms tight around Simon, sobbing softly.
"I… I can't… a-anymore…"
(wouldn't it be horrible if- if Mia ended up actually doing something to herself)
“D-don’t talk like that! I-it’s gonna be okay!” He reassured her quickly, beginning to get worried. He was afraid that she was going to leave him alone. He didn’t think he’d be able to survive it all by himself.
((I mean Simon’s probably going to too-))
((But yes that would be horrible and Simon would 100% blame Astral))
(Got it!)
(Because I'm starting to lean more towards Astral not really getting a redemption arc… but he just breaks. Like, oops, he means to keep Simon safe, but…)
"I– I c-can't, Si-imon…" Mia looked up, her trembling stopping. It was more terrifying than before.
"I-I'm, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry…"
((Oh noooooooooooo))
Simon began to break down more as it seemed like she was breaking down less. “P-please, please don’t l-leave me.”
