Clara said, "Actually, I've been here once. Nice place."
Clara said, "Actually, I've been here once. Nice place."
"Really?" Tokyo approached the counter, looking up at the chalkboard drink menu.
"I love it here."
"Yeah, I kinda pissed off the owner when I took out a few eyeballs for study. It was a case. A really weird one. Don't ask."
"So why did you ask me to come here anyways?" She asked after repeating her order at the proper counter. She took a seat at the same table as Kam wile waiting for her name to be called.
Tokyo looked at Clara with a straight face but then erupted with laughter. "Eyeballs?" She tried to stop. "That sounds…pretty interesting."
"I needed someone else so I wouldn't be as nervous. You know me, without a friend I'm a complete dingus who's afraid of his own shadow." he stuck his tongue out, trying to cool it down from the HOT cocoa.
"Yeah, it was really strange."
Tokyo smiled and looked up at the menu again. "So what are you in the mood for?"
"Anything, really."
"Well, I recommend the chai tea latte, it's my favourite," Tokyo said. "But order anything you'd like, I'll pay."
"Oh, allow me to pay. It's the least I can do."
"So you think I won't embarrass you," she smiled mischievously, "I might just do it out of spite for that dog comment."
"No, no, don't be silly. I've got it." Tokyo hunted through her purse for a ten-pound bill.
"Seriously, I offered, plus you saved my life."
Tokyo blushed. "Yeah, I guess." She felt butterflies fluttering around inside of her.
"Okay, if you insist."
"What do you want? You can find a table, I'll get the coffee."
"Go ahead, can't be embarrassed when you're with me." Kam grinned. "Speaking of embarrassment, there are so many damn cute guys here. Before you ask, yes, I don't have a crush on Peter anymore. He's old news from last week." he took a sip of his cooled down cocoa.
"I'll have a chai tea latte, thank you." Tokyo nodded and walked around the cafe for a table.
Clara ordered and brought the drinks to their table.
"Thank you," Tokyo smiled gratefully and took a sip of her drink.
"So how has life been in general?"
"Yeah and girls too," Kenzie looked around the room, "I had a feeling that Peter wouldn't work out… One moment, I've got to get my coffee." She gets up and quickly pays for her latte. Taking a drink on the way back to the table.
"Life is.." Tokyo pondered. How was she doing? She had been so caught up in business, she rarely checked in on herself.
"I'd like to think I'm doing okay, just really stressed with my career."
"No one works out for me. I'm destined to be alone!" Kam patted Kenzie's head as she returned to the table, "Well, as long as we're alone together."
"What's your number?" Clara asked.
"Hey, watch the flowers," she says wile pushing his hand away from her head and the daisies in her hair. " and don't pull the destined crap you just have to find the right person."
Tokyo almost spat out her coffee. This girl was actually attracted to her!
"Um," Tokyo fumbled for a scrap piece of paper in her purse. She tore off a chunk of a receipt from a fabric store and wrote down her number. "Here." She handed Clara the paper, still blushing.
Clara took the paper and handed Tokyo a business card. "My number, you can call me whenever you like."
Kam retracted his hand, "You're right." he shot a glance at the people around the room. "Make a move on one of them? Which one?"
"Well," Tokyo smiled. "I'd like."
Tokyo mentally screamed. Why can't you be normal?
