Natalia took a deep breath as she looked around her kitchen.(https://www.pinterest.com/pin/855472891693968715/) She tapped her chin, deep in thought. The plans for her business were all splayed out on the counter, piles of messy papers wrapping around her computer and coffee cup. Natalia was finally walked over to the living room(https://www.pinterest.com/pin/855472891693968864/ and https://www.pinterest.com/pin/440860251009608076/) and ruffled her ten year old brother's head. Her brother, Brody, was sitting on a couch petting Honey, her Cocker Spaniel, and both were being unusually quiet. Juliet was reading a book on the other couch. Natalia sighed.
"Are you guys okay?" Juliet nodded, but didn't say anything. Brody simply kept petting Honey. Natalia suddenly had an idea. She ran back to the kitchen, then came back and presented each with a bowl of fruit drizzled with chocolate syrup. Both kids' eyes brightened as they accepted the bowls.
"Thanks Natalia!" Juliet said, breaking the silence. Natalia smiled warmly.
"No problem kiddo. Enjoy your treat you two." She said, then tossed a treat to Honey.
Natalia smiled again and left them to eat, walking back into the kitchen area. She sat back down on her seat and put her head in her hands, staring at her parents' will, then at her bills. She frowned. Now that she had full custody of her siblings, adding to the fact that the restaurant she had worked at had shut down, causing her to lose her job, life would provide to be more of a challenge. But she'd get through it, somehow.
She wondered how her friend Kenzie was doing. She hadn't seen her since she had visited after Kenzie's mom had passed.

"Oh, Willow would notice right away, I'm sure. Maybe we should call them now?" Kenzie suggested with a shrug.
Hunter shook his head.
“Leo’s spending the day with his family. I think he also mentioned something about bringing Willow along, but I’m not so sure.”
Kenzie blinked. Willow hadn't mentioned anything of the sort to her… Maybe she hadn't known, yet. Yeah, that was probably it…
"Well… What if we throw a party this weekend?" she suggested. "That way we could tell everyone at once."
Hunter smiled.
“That sounds nice,” he murmured. “The weekend’s close, too, so that’s perfect.”
Kenzie returned Hunter's smile with one of her own, then sighed and embraced him again.
"I can't believe we're engaged," she admitted in a whisper. "It just doesn't feel real."
Hunter wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his lap as he held her tighter.
“Me neither,” he laughed. “I was half convinced that you would reject the proposal, since we haven’t even been together for that long. But I still wanted to try.”
"Oh, I would have said 'yes' had you asked me a few weeks ago!" Kenzie laughed quietly. "I love you, Hunter. So much…"
Hunter smiled softly, cupping her cheek with his hand.
“Damn, I should’ve done it sooner had I known,” he said cheekily. “In my defense, you didn’t give out any signals. Also, I love you, too, princess. More than you know.”
Kenzie leaned into Hunter's hand, closing her eyes in contentment.
"Yes, well, I didn't want to get my hopes up and then have them be dashed to pieces when you didn't ask," she explained, looking up at him through her eyelashes with a small smile pulling the corners of her lips up.
“Well, sweetheart, had you given the slightest sign, I would’ve proposed on the spot.” Hunter told her, rubbing circles with his thumb on her cheek.
“You’re perfect,” he murmured, mostly to himself rather than to Kenzie, kissing her on the forehead. “You bring out the cheesiest sides of me, I swear.”
