@Fraust

"Mm… maybe we should take a nap or something. Y'know, if we're both tired." Lucas shrugged a bit.

@Fraust

"Yeah, we do sleep a lot. What else is there really to do, though?" Lucas asked, sighing softly.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I mean, there's a lot to do. We just don't do much else." Melissa shrugged, playing with one of her stray waves. "I could try to teach you piano. I'm not a great teacher, but I can try."

@Fraust

"Sure, if you want to. I'm not great with instruments." Lucas shrugged a bit. "I'm happy to try, though."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Well, if you don't really want to, that's fine. I was just trying to come up with something." Melissa hummed, picking her head up. "We can go inside in a few minutes and do that if you want to."

@Fraust

"Yeah, I'm happy to learn, Mel. I just can't guarantee I'll be good at it." He laughed softly, running his fingers through his hair.

@Fraust

"I guess so." Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek and looked up at the sky as well. "I'm more used to baseball, which is much less delicate. We'll be back in school in a couple days though, right?"

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Melissa's smile dropped at the mention of school, and she let out a heavy sigh. "Yeah… Lu, I hate to break it to you, but you know you can't play… right?" She asked softly, fiddling with her hair.

@Fraust

Lucas looked over at Melissa, seeming a bit confused. "I can't play? Why not?" He asked. "My arms aren't hurting right now."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"But you could make it so much worse. We talked about this Lu, you're not fully healed, and if you push it, you could seriously damage it. More than it already is." Melissa replied, unable to make eye contact with him. "At least I thought that's what had been decided. Even if they aren't hurting now, I know when they do start, you won't say anything so you can keep playing."

@Fraust

Lucas sighed and looked away, fidgeting uncomfortably with his hands. "B-But… I'm the captain. And I've been gone for ages. I can't just come back after months and not play."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I know, but you can't play, and then damage something so you can never play again." Melissa insisted, leaning forward and resting her head in her hands. "I know it's part of your job, but you can't push yourself if it's going to physically harm you."

@Fraust

Lucas closed his eyes, tapping one foot on the ground anxiously. "B-But I… I can't just never play again. When am I going to be able to play?"

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I don't know, love. But I really don't think it's a good idea to play right away…" She mumbled, feeling awful for having to bring it up. "I'm sorry, but you really need to let your arm heal completely. At least it would be preferred."

@Fraust

Lucas looked down at his arm, feeling frustrated at himself. "This is all my fault, isn't it…" He whispered. "If I wasn't so stupid, I wouldn't have to worry about all of this."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Lifting her head, she gently reached over and took his arm. "Hey, no, you're not stupid Lu." Melissa insisted, shifting so she was kneeling down in front of him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything, I just… I don't want you to get hurt."

@Fraust

Lucas closed his eyes and shook his head. "No, Mel… it's not your fault. It's never been your fault. I'm the stupid one. I'm the one who did this to myself."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Lu, please…" Melissa insisted, taking both his hands and looking up at him. "Please don't take this out on yourself. Maybe it technically is your fault, but you don't need to bear yourself up about it…"

@Fraust

Lucas looked up at Melissa weakly, his hands tense and shaky. "I do, though… I would be able to return to school normally if I wasn't so stupid. I-I should've been able to control myself…"

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"But… you were under the influence of the meds. And, they tampered with your judgment." Melissa insisted, reaching up, and holding a hand to his face. "It's not your fault… they weren't good for you."

@Fraust

Lucas closed his eyes, not seeming very reassured. "B-But I shouldn't have been so stupid. I should've told someone earlier that I didn't think the meds were right. I should've been able to control myself."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Maybe you should have, but… it's done. We can't go back and fix it now," Melissa whispered, keeping a tight hold on his hand. "But you can remember for the future. Right? You can remember to tell someone when you think something is off?"

@Fraust

"Yeah, yeah, but it's too late now. What if I can't ever play baseball again?" He asked weakly. "I-I'm not really good enough at much else to make a career out of it."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Lu, honey," Melissa replied softly, tracing circles into the palm of his hand. "You just have to give it time. You'll be able to play again, I'm sure of it, you just have to let yourself heal."

@Fraust

Lucas sighed shakily, not seeming very reassured. "What if my arm never completely heals, though? It… it was a pretty bad injury. I-I mean, it's still not 100%."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Melissa let out a soft sigh, gently kissing his hand. "It will heal, it just takes time, love. And when it does, you will be able to play again. And worst-case scenario, it doesn't heal perfectly, and you have to find something new. I know you love baseball, but if you can't play, it has to be a sign, right?"

@Fraust

"A sign of what?" He asked weakly, glancing up at Melissa. "If I was gonna have a sign that I shouldn't play baseball or whatever, you'd think it would happen when I was younger or something… then I'd have time to find something else."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I feel like you of all people should know that the world doesn't always work like that, honey," Melissa whispered, running her thumb along the back of his hand. "You still have time to find something else if you need it, it's just an inconvenience. But I seriously doubt you'll have to, you just have time for your hand to heal."
