Humming a bit, she took his hand and led him towards the backyard. "You alright, darling?" She asked softly, kissing his cheek.
Humming a bit, she took his hand and led him towards the backyard. "You alright, darling?" She asked softly, kissing his cheek.
Lucas nodded a bit, keeping close to Melissa as he walked. "Yeah, I'm fine… bit unsettled, but I'm sure I'm fine."
"Right…" Melissa hummed, giving him a worried look before pulling the back door open. "If you say so, love."
He nodded again, following Melissa outside and seeming to relax a bit at the fresh air. The fence made him feel more at ease as well. "It's nice out, at least…"
"Yeah, but a bit colder than I'd like it to be." Melissa laughed weakly, walking over and sitting down on the porch steps. "But it's nice for being cold."
"Yeah." Lucas sat down beside Melissa and kept glancing around, wanting to make sure he was aware of his surroundings at all times. "I'll have to work again tomorrow… do you think I'll have to go to court for… the thing?"
"I dunno, hun. We can ask." Melissa hummed, looking up at him. Reaching for his hand, she laced her fingers with his. "But I'd have to go inside. And we just got out here."
"Mm… we can stay out for a bit. Hopefully it'll go well if I do have to go…" He sighed softly. "I'm worried about it…"
"I'm sorry… I want to help, but I dunno how…" She whispered, resting her head on his shoulder. "If you think of anything, just tell me."
Lucas nodded a bit and shifted closer to Melissa, holding tightly to her hand. "Yeah… I'm… I'm sure it'll be fine."
"Yeah…" Melissa mumbled, letting out a soft sigh as she leaned up against him. After a while she lifted her head up. "It's kinda cold… you wanna head in?"
"Sure, love… I guess we can ask your dad if I'll have to go to court." Lucas sighed and got to his feet.
(Could be fun though 😏)
Melissa looked up at him, lacing her fingers with his. "You really wanna talk to him right now?" She asked softly, leading him inside.
(Aha- sure, fun lol)
(Lmao it would definitely go poorly and I'm so here for it)
"Y-Yeah, there's not really going to be a better time." Lucas laughed weakly as he followed Melissa. "It's never going to be… you know… good."
(Ahhh same tho. Because why would we want them to be happy?)
"I guess you're right…" Melissa mumbled, leading him inside. Taking his hand, she led him up the stairs. "I'm really not looking forward to this…" She mumbled to herself, knocking on the door.
(Of course, of course)
"Yeah, me either…" Lucas kept close to Melissa, looking up at the door weakly after Melissa knocked. "Hopefully he won't be mad that we're bothering him…"
Melissa glanced up at him, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "He's not gonna be mad, Lu." She insisted, as Mr. Brennahan opened the door. "Hey you two, everything alright? How are you feeling, Lucas?"
"Uh… still a bit off, but I'm okay…" Lucas replied softly, still looking pretty nervous. "W-We… uh… we wanted to talk to you about the whole… situation." He said awkwardly. "And the possibility of going to court."
(I'm sorry I've been so busy/tired)
"Oh- that…" Mr. Brennahan let out a soft sigh, letting them both in to his office. "Well, I've talked to the police, and they're investigating the situation as we speak. I sent in all the information you gave me yesterday."
(Np <3)
Lucas nodded nervously, still seeming pretty tense. "Right… thanks. I vaguely remember you saying something last night about me possibly needing to go back to the hospital. Maybe I imagined it, but… I dunno. Should I? I-I mean, I'm a little woozy, but I'm sure I'm fine."
"You're right, I did say something about that. And we probably need to." Mr. Brennahan nodded a bit, glancing at the wall clock. "I'd need to finish some work stuff, but we can head out as soon as I'm finished with that. Was there anything else you needed to talk about?"
Lucas sighed softly and nodded again. "Alright, sir… and no, not that I can think of. Thank you." He dipped his head politely and started to retreat with Melissa.
Melissa followed after Lucas, giving her father a soft smile. "Thanks, dad." She called, before trailing behind Lucas. Following him down the stairs, she gave his arm a gentle squeeze. "That wasn't so bad, don't you think?"
"No, it wasn't too bad…" Lucas drew in a wavering breath, keeping close to Melissa. "I'm not looking forward to going back to the hospital, though, even if it's just a checkup…"
"Well, I can be there with you, if that helps." Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek before wrapping her arms around his shoulder. "I love you… I'm here for you." She hummed a bit, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Mm… thanks, Mel. You don't have to come if you don't want, but… it would be nice if you were there." He sighed again and returned the kiss. "I'm sure we'll be leaving soon."
"I don't mind coming… I just need to go get changed." Melissa hummed, keeping her arms loosely around his waist. "And, y'know, do makeup and stuff."
"Alright, Mel… I should probably change as well. I'll meet you back in the living room soon, yeah?" He reluctantly pulled apart from Melissa.
"Mhmm…" Melissa hummed softly, nuzzling against his cheek before heading up to her room. "You can come to my room when you're done, if you prefer."
"Alright, Mel…" Lucas headed into the bathroom to change into a hoodie and jeans before going up to meet Melissa in her room.
