"Mhmm." Lucas got to his feet and stretched a bit, taking Melissa's hand to head outside.
"Mhmm." Lucas got to his feet and stretched a bit, taking Melissa's hand to head outside.
Melissa kissed his cheek, grabbing the keys as they walked out. Leading him towards the car, she got in and started it. “What time do I need to pick you up?”
"Um… 2:30 is when my shift ends, so you might wanna be there by like 2:25 just in case. If that's okay, of course."
“Yeah, I was planning on being earlier.” Melissa hummed, pulling out of the driveway when the two of them were buckled in.
"Sounds good to me." Lucas got into the passenger side of the car and buckled himself in, keeping quiet while Melissa drove.
Melissa also kept quiet, focused on the road as she drove. Eventually she glanced over to him, letting out a soft sigh. “We'll be there in a couple minutes… you gonna be alright?”
"Yeah, I'll be okay. Hopefully she won't come in today." Lucas sighed softly.
“Mmm… yeah.” Melissa mumbled, pulling up to the flower shop. Pulling up front, she glanced over to him. “Well, we’re here. Have a good day, alright?”
"I'll try my best, Mel. Love you." Lucas smiled weakly and got out of the car to go to work.
Melissa smiled in return, pulling the car over. She waited a couple of minutes before driving back home silently. After a while of being home, bored and lonely, she drove to wait outside the flower shop for him when his shift was finished.
At the end of his shift, Lucas was standing outside looking very eager to leave. He seemed uneasy and stressed, and kept looking around nervously.
Melissa pulled up front, unlocking the door so he could get in. Turning her head towards him, she gave a soft smile. “Hey… how was your shift?”
"Stressful…" Lucas sighed and quickly got into the car. "She came in again, but my manager kicked her out."
Melissa’s smile dropped as she let out a weak sigh. “I’m sorry, Lu…” She mumbled, reaching over to give his hand a gentle squeeze. “Well, we can go home, where she won’t bother you.”
Lucas nodded a bit and closed his eyes, leaning his head back against the seat. "Talked to my manager about the school thing. She said we can make it work."
“Oh? Well that’s good to hear.” Melissa hummed softly, pulling the car out of the parking lot. “I’m glad something good happened, at least.”
"Mhmm… I'm just hoping she's not still following. Maybe she gave it up? But… she knows where I live now."
“I don’t know what to tell you. I guess that I doubt she’s following us?” Melissa shrugged, glancing over to him. “There’s not much I can offer to do either, is there?”
"I guess not really, no. All we can do is hope she isn't." Lucas sighed softly.
Melissa nodded a little, growing quiet for the rest of the ride. Nodding her head some, she focused on getting them back home. When she pulled into the driveway, she glanced back over to him. "Do we want to head straight for the park, or do you want to change, first?"
"Um… either is fine." He shrugged a bit. "I'll probably want a coat at least, even if I don't end up changing."
"Yeah, that's true." Melissa hummed, pushing her door open as she got down. "I should grab one too."
Lucas nodded and got out of the car to go inside, grabbing his coat and Melissa's so they could both put them on.
“Thanks, Lu.” Melissa hummed softly, kissing his cheek before pulling it on. “Do you want something to eat before we go?”
"Mm… yeah, sure. I'll just get a snack. You?" He asked, heading over to the pantry.
“No, I’m alright. I’m not really hungry.” Melissa shrugged, grabbing Cody’s leash after getting her coat on. “Can we take Cody?”
"Yeah, sure. I'm sure he'd like to go out." Lucas grabbed a granola bar for himself and hooked up Cody to his leash.
Melissa hummed a bit, kneeling down on the floor to pet Cody. "I agree." She smiled, scratching his chin.
"Ready to go?" He asked, going to open the door for Melissa with a soft smile.
"Yeah, sure." Melissa hummed a bit, standing up and leading Cody out the door. "As long as you are."
