"Hm?" Lucas looked up at Melissa. He had dark circles under his eyes, and he was still a bit disheveled. "O-Oh, I'm just… making breakfast… sorry if I woke you."
"Hm?" Lucas looked up at Melissa. He had dark circles under his eyes, and he was still a bit disheveled. "O-Oh, I'm just… making breakfast… sorry if I woke you."
“No, no you’re fine…” She mumbled, rubbing at her eyes in hopes of waking up some. “Isn’t it kinda early for breakfast…?”
"Yeah, probably, but I can't go back to sleep, so…" Lucas sighed and kept cooking.
Melissa let out a soft sigh, coming up and wrapping her arms around his waist from behind. "Why didn't you wake me up?" She asked softly, burying her face in his shoulder.
"It was like, four am, Mel… I didn't want to wake you up so early." Lucas sighed softly.
"Lu…" Melissa sighed softly, lifting her head up. "You could have woken me up… it's not a big deal." She mumbled, pulling back some.
"Just because I wake up really early doesn't mean you have to as well." Lucas kept cooking.
"But I want to… I don't want you to feel like you can't." Melissa mumbled, pulling back as she quietly made her way over to the table. Sitting down, she folded her arms on the table to rest her head on them.
Lucas shrugged a bit. "Still… you need your sleep. I don't need to bother you, especially so early. I'll be fine."
Melissa turned her head towards him, yawning a bit before burying her face in her arms. "If I actually want sleep, I should probably have gone up to my room… I'm still tired. And my neck kind of hurts from the way I was sitting…" She mumbled, tracing circles into the table.
"Mm… sorry about that." Lucas finished cooking his eggs and put them onto a plate with a soft sigh. He still looked pretty tired, but he couldn't sleep. "You can go back to bed if you want."
“Don’t think I’ll actually sleep, though. Besides, now that I’m up I should stay up.” Melissa mumbled, picking her head back up when he came over. “Can I get you something to drink..? Like coffee or something..?”
"I guess… coffee is fine if you want to make it." Lucas yawned a bit and sat down at the kitchen table to eat.
“I just don’t want you to be so tired. Especially if you’ve got work to go to.” Melissa mumbled, grabbing a mug. “But if you don’t want it, you don’t have to have it.”
Lucas shrugged. "I like it fine, and I guess it could help… if you want to make coffee, I won't stop you."
Melissa nodded a little, quietly brewing him a cup of coffee. When she had made it, she brought it over and set it down next to him. “You want any kind of creamer?” She asked softly, yawning once again.
"Thanks, Mel… and no, that's alright." Lucas quietly drank his coffee, running his fingers through his hair to neaten it up. "I need to get a more consistent sleep schedule…"
“Yeah… I can try and help you with it. We should probably probably be more active throughout the day.” Melissa mumbled, kissing his cheek before sitting down at the table. “We can go for a walk in between our shifts.”
"Yeah, I guess so. Or I could drink coffee more often to stay awake." He shrugged a bit and sighed. "It's not my favorite, but it gets the job done. Maybe I can try and see if I like tea more."
“Well, I’m sure we can figure out something.” Melissa hummed softly, looking up at him from her spot. “They make energy drinks… they’re not great for you, but I mean, neither is coffee. Maybe you could try some of those.”
"Mm… I'm not sure I'd be a big fan of energy drinks. Especially not so early in the morning." Lucas took another sip of his coffee and closed his eyes. "I'll figure something out."
Melissa shrugged a bit, nodding a little as she settled in place at the table. "Mm… right. Well, if you need anything, just let me know." She mumbled, reaching out to hold his hand.
"Alright, Mel… I should probably keep working on my homework until I have to go to work."
"Probably, yeah…" Melissa mumbled, tracing circles into the table. "Do you need me to do anything?"
Lucas shrugged a bit. "Not really. You can do whatever you want to."
“Mkay…” Melissa mumbled, looking up at him. “I love you… you mean a lot to me.” She hummed, reaching out to hold his hand.
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and held tightly to her hand. "Do you have to work today?"
“Yeah, I do…” Melissa sighed softly, resting her head back on the table. “I don’t really want to, though.”
"Mm… I gotta work too." Lucas sighed softly and stared at the table. "You usually work afternoons or evenings though, right?"
"Yeah… mostly because of school." Melissa hummed, still feeling pretty tired. "I had to ask to make sure I didn't get scheduled in the middle of a school day."
