Lucas buried his face in Melissa's shoulder, sighing shakily. "Everything's gonna be okay, Mel… we're gonna be alright…" He murmured weakly.
Lucas buried his face in Melissa's shoulder, sighing shakily. "Everything's gonna be okay, Mel… we're gonna be alright…" He murmured weakly.
Melissa let out a weak sigh, nodding a little as she stayed curled up in his arms. “M’sorry…” She whispered, lifting her head up a little. “I shouldn’t be so worried. And- and I shouldn’t be asking you to reassure me.”
"It's okay, Mel… you have to reassure me all the time." Lucas smiled weakly. "You can't forget that you need help too sometimes."
Melissa nodded, burying her face in his shoulder. “M’kay… I just feel bad, because you’re already stressed out. And I just… it’s not really a great time to need your help.” She mumbled, taking his hand and loosely lacing their fingers.
"I'm sure it's not usually a great time for me to need your help either, Mel. That doesn't mean you don't need it, and I'm happy to help when I can."
“I guess you’re right…” Melissa mumbled, quietly pulling back to look up at him. “I love you…”
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas murmured in reply, gently kissing Melissa's cheek.
Melissa leaned into his arms for a couple minutes more before turning to the stove “I need to finish making dinner.” She stated softly, seeming a lot calmer with his reassurance.
"Alright, Mel… if you need me to do anything, just let me know, okay?" He asked softly, smiling a bit.
Melissa nodded a little, glancing down at the timer on the stove. “Mm… could you grab the strainer? You can just set it in the sink.” She hummed softly, stirring in the pasta.
"Mmkay." Lucas did as he was told, grabbing the strainer and setting it in the sink as instructed. "Anything else?"
“Mm… a couple bowls?” She asked softly, shutting off the stove when the timer went off. Bringing it over to the sink, she drained the water off.
Lucas nodded and set a couple of bowls on the counter next to the sink. "There we go. Any sauce?"
“Yeah, I’ve got some.” Melissa hummed softly, turning her head towards him. “If you don’t want any, that’s fine too.”
"Alright. I don't need any." Lucas shrugged a bit and grabbed some butter and parmesan cheese from the fridge.
Melissa nodded a little, pecking his cheek before getting herself a smaller portion. “Mkay… I love you.” She hummed softly, sitting down at the table.
"Love you too, Mel." Lucas got himself some pasta and joined Melissa at the table to eat. "Anything you wanna do after dinner?"
“No, not really. I’m just happy I can stay home tonight.” Melissa hummed softly, letting out a soft sigh as she ate. “So we can do whatever you want. I don’t really care…”
"Mm… maybe we can just chill on the couch. It's been a long day." Lucas sighed softly as he stuck a forkful of pasta into his mouth.
"Yeah…" Melissa hummed softly, looking up at him. "That sounds nice… maybe we can watch a movie or something. Though we'd not actually watch it."
Lucas nodded a bit and kept eating, tapping one foot on the floor. "Yeah, that's fine with me…"
"Mm… you're sure?" She asked softly, tucking loose hair behind her ear. "I don't mind doing something else, instead."
"Yeah, I'm sure. I don't really have anything else that I want to do." Lucas shrugged and stuck another forkful of pasta in his mouth.
Melissa looked over to him, nodding a little. “Right…” She nodded a little, finishing off her food. “I’ll wash dishes when you’re done.”
"Okay… I don't mind helping if you want me to, though." Lucas shrugged a bit.
“I don’t care, honestly. I’m already done, so it seems silly to wait.” Melissa shrugged, heading over to the sink to wash dishes.
"Alright…" Lucas sighed softly and soon finished his food. "I love you, Mel…" He murmured.
Melissa gave him a soft smile, picking up his bowl. "And I love you, Lucas." She hummed softly, washing it off for him.
Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and headed into the living room to wait for her.
When Melissa walked into the living room, she quietly headed over to the couch. "Mm… you okay?" She asked softly, sitting down next to him.
