Lucas stuck his tongue out a bit and laughed softly. "I should probably head out soon."
Lucas stuck his tongue out a bit and laughed softly. "I should probably head out soon."
"Oh, probably. But you need to eat first." Melissa hummed, plating the french toast before turning around to face him. "Here… do you want syrup?"
"No, I'm okay… thank you." Lucas accepted the toast from Melissa and started eating with a soft hum.
Melissa nodded a bit, kissing his cheek before starting to clean up her mess. "Mm.. of course…"
Lucas returned the kiss, smiling gently. He soon finished his food and washed his plate. "Alright, I should really get going now, love."
“Mm… but you should stay.” Melissa hummed, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind. “We can cuddle, and go back to sleep.”
"But I gotta go to work, Mel… don't wanna be late." Lucas gently kissed Melissa.
Melissa let out a soft sigh, pulling back she gave him a tired smile. “Alright, alright… do you need me to drive you?” She asked softly, loosely wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
"No, that's okay. I can walk you can come pick me up afterwards if you'd like, though." Lucas smiled softly.
"You sure?" Melissa asked softly, taking one of his hands and gently swinging it back and forth. "I don't want you to feel like you have to… I really don't mind."
"Yeah, I'm sure. I could do with the exercise anyway." Lucas shrugged a bit and laced his fingers with Melissa's.
Melissa nodded a little, gently kissing his cheek. "Alright… well, I love you. Have a good day, okay?"
"Love you too, Mel. See you after work." Lucas kissed Melissa softly and headed out the door to leave.
"Be safe!" She called out, before finishing cleaning up the dishes. When Lucas had gone, Melissa made her way to the couch, laying down to hopefully fall back asleep.
Lucas returned to the house a few hours later after his shift, looking stressed and disheveled. His cheeks were lightly flushed from exertion, showing that he likely ran home.
Melissa was still laying on the couch, stirring when he came inside. "Mm… Lu?" She asked softly, pushing herself up.
Lucas locked the door behind himself and headed over to the couch, crouching beside it so that he wouldn't be visible through the windows. After almost a minute, someone started pounding on the door and yelling something indistinctly.
Melissa jumped, looking over to Lucas with a concerned look. "Lu- what's… what's going on?" She asked softly, starting to get up off the couch.
"Shh! No, don't let her in!" Lucas replied in a hushed whisper, quivering a bit. "It's… i-it's the woman I told you about… the one who made me take her number? She's… feeling more bold today…"
Melissa looked down at him, growing stiff at the mention of the woman. "She… she followed you home?" Melissa asked softly, a wave of slight anger building. Clenching her jaw, she turned to face Lucas instead of the door. "She didn't hurt you, did she?"
"Not… much…" Lucas cowered a bit, tightly gripping the edge of the couch. "S-She kept bothering me while I was working even though I asked her to stop, and then she started following me when I left…"
"What do you mean, much?" Melissa asked softly, crouching down on the floor next to him. Gently she reached out to hold his face, doing her best to push her anger aside as she tried to relax Lucas. "Did you try telling your boss about her?"
"I-I mean, she kinda grabbed my arm and tried to like… pull me to herself. And… and I did tell my boss, and they kicked her out of the store, but I guess she waited outside…" Lucas closed his eyes and leaned into Melissa's hand, still trembling a bit and flinching when he heard the door again.
Melissa flinched a bit when he did, quietly scooting closer to him. "Well, I guess I'll be picking you up and dropping you off from now on." She stated with a weak smile, kissing his forehead softly. "I can take care of this, you sit here, okay?"
"Okay, okay, just… be careful…" Lucas replied weakly. "Or get your dad! He'll probably know what to do, right?"
"I will, I will… you can go upstairs and get him if you'd like. It would probably be best she doesn't see you inside, anyways." Melissa stated softly, offering him a hand to stand up with.
"Okay… don't do anything rash. I don't know if she's dangerous." Lucas carefully got to his feet and hurried upstairs to knock on Mr. Brennahan's door.
"I'll be fine," Melissa insisted, walking over to the door and unlocking it. Pulling it open, she gave the woman a look. "Can I help you?"
When Lucas knocked on the door to Mr. Brennahan's office, he pulled the door open with a confused look. "What are you two doing down there?" He asked softly, coming off as really confused and concerned. "Is everything okay?"
"Yes! I'm looking for Lucas. He's the guy who works at the flower shop a few streets down." She huffed indignantly and crossed her arms. She definitely looked older than Lucas, and wasn't dressed very modestly. She also smelled faintly of alcohol and what might have been weed.
Lucas looked up at Mr. Brennahan nervously, obviously stressed. "U-Um… there's a woman here who has been… um… kind of harassing me at work? A-And she followed me home today, and I'm really not sure what to do…"
"Well I hate to disappoint you, but he doesn't want to see you." Melissa retorted, not going to question how she had figured out his name. "What could you possibly want with a kid, anyway? Just leave him alone— he's clearly not interested in anything you can offer."
Mr. Brennahan blinked in surprise, taken aback. "Are you alright? Did she physically harass you?" He asked softly, gently resting his hands on Lucas's shoulders.
