"Don't worry, Josh. It's pretty much all healed up. The feathers are growing back in and everything." He gestured to the side where Ace was on. A small patch of feathers that were smaller than the rest were growing in.

"Your feathers are adorable. You're such a cinnamon puff." Ace crooned.

"I am not! Josh is!" Blake gestured to Josh, who he'd already half covered under his wing.

"But your feathers are sooooo soft." Ace's eyes shined as he patted Blake's wings. "Zodiac's not as soft as this."

"I'm sure Peter and Dani's wings are just as soft, Ace." Blake's rolled his eyes, but to be honest he wasn't so sure. Before today he'd never even talked to someone else with wings before.

"If I had wings I would probably…..Yeah, I don't know what I would do.." Ace touched his arm, "But I have a tattoo that lets me hover an inch off the ground. Useless, but it was for a dare, so…."

"Flying is pretty cool. I'm um… not the best at it. Commander Ryker doesn't like it when I fly." Blake admitted shyly his wings twitched nervously as he thought about his Commander. His old commander.

"It is." Ace sighed.

"So are you gonna do this one inch hover thing or what?" Blake inquired, taking the ice cream out of Ace's hands. He set it down on the counter and started searching for a bowl to put some in.

Ace steadied himself, and pressed his tattoo, and he hovered an inch of the ground until he fell three minutes later.

Blake snickered as he pulled two bowls out of the cabinet. "You want some too Josh?" Blake asked, scooping some ice cream into a bowl for Ace.

"I can fly better with Zodiac anyway," Ace said. He blew some stray hairs out of his face and smiled.

Blake tensed a little at the mention of the dragon. He handed to bowl to Ace, stiffly. "Well your dragon's certainly a good flier."

"Sometimes she bucks when she sees a duck or a bird and I end up falling in the air." Ace chuckled at the memory.

"Hey! It's fun to chase birds!" Blake defended, an indignant pout on his lips.

"I used to chase birds when I was young, my dad told me it wasn't right because you're scaring them." Ace looked a bit sheepish and started to ask for a spoon.

"They deserve it. Viscous creatures. 'Specially the small ones. They like to swarm me sometimes. They think I'm like an oversized eagle or something." Blake shuddered at the thought of being swarmed by sparrows in midair.

Ace needed a spoon. So he yelled for a spoon. "SPOON!"

Macha nodded, her brain swirling with a mix of sympathy and sorrow for Dani and cheekiness from the little snippets of Blake and Ace's conversation she'd heard. Just to bring the mood up a little, she gave Dani a teasing grin. "So… Blake." She raised her eyebrows suggestively.

"I'm looking! Give me a minute!" Blake complained. He shuffled through drawers until finally pulling some out. "Think fast!" He yelled with a mischievous grin, flinging the spoon at Ace.

Ace looked up and caught the spoon, without even a blink or a hint of being startled. He grinned, "You'd be amazed at how fast your reflexes will be when you're living with an abusive family."

"Abusive?" Blake's muscles tensed up. "Who was it?" He growled, his tone becoming more threatening.

Oh shi- "I didn't say anything about abuse." Ace looked to the side and prayed that Blake would forget. You just had to open your mouth and say something, didn't you?
