"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas closed his eyes and sighed, his hair a bit disheveled. He still looked tired and stressed.
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas closed his eyes and sighed, his hair a bit disheveled. He still looked tired and stressed.
Melissa stayed next to him, keeping quiet for the time being. She didn't know what to say or do right now.
Lucas soon finished eating and got up, heading into the kitchen so he could start working again.
Melissa lifted her head when he got up, getting up to follow him. “Are you alright?” She asked softly, rubbing his shoulders.
"Yeah, I'm okay… just gotta get back to work…" Lucas sighed and started scribbling down answers again.
Melissa sighed softly, kissing the top of his head. "I love you, alright?" She stated softly, playing with his hair.
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas returned the kiss and kept working for a while. After about an hour, he was gritting his teeth and seemed to be in pain. He was having trouble getting his eyes to focus, and he felt a bit dizzy.
Melissa had been sitting by his side for a while, but when she started to get antsy, she got got up and headed over to the sink to wash dishes. Coming back, she glanced up at Lucas nervously. “Lu…”
"Mmm…" Lucas closed his eyes and tensed up a bit more, grimacing and sighing. Lights hurt…
Melissa gently started rubbing his shoulders, looking down at him. “What’s wrong? You really don’t look good.” She stated softly, coming around to his front and leaning on the edge of the table.
"Mmm… headache's getting worse…" Lucas mumbled, keeping his eyes closed as Melissa rubbed his shoulders.
“Then you need to take a break, and let me take care of you. Come on,” Melissa hummed, taking his arm and gently trying to get him to stand up. “I can make you some tea if you think that will help. Or I can just get you some water and Ibuprofen.”
Lucas reluctantly got to his feet and opened his eyes, wincing when the light hit him. He seemed a bit unstable, and he was having trouble thinking through the headache.
Melissa took note of his uneasiness, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Leading him into the living room, she flicked the light switch off to try and darken the room. “You wanna lie down?”
"Yeah…" Lucas lowered himself onto the couch and curled up into a ball, running his fingers through his hair with a shaky sigh. "Mmm… hurts, Mel…"
“I’ll go get you some medicine so it’ll stop, okay? You just lay here,” Melissa whispered, kissing the top of his head before disappearing in the other room. A couple minutes later she came back, kneeling down on the floor. “Here,”
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas opened his eyes to look up at Melissa and pushed himself up with one arm so he could actually take the medicine. "Nngh… I didn't expect it to get this bad…"
“I didn’t expect you to have one in the first place… what happened?” She asked softly, sitting on the floor in front of him. “Were you just stressed?”
"I guess… dunno…" Lucas curled up again after he swallowed the pills, obviously uncomfortable. The pain wouldn't go away for a while.
Melissa set his glass aside, starting to play with his hair quietly. She was trying to be as gentle and as quiet as possible. Other than that, she didn’t really know what to do.
Lucas curled up tighter on the couch for a while, but then sat up so he could tuck his head between his knees and rested his hands on the back of his neck. It was supposed to help, but he wasn't feeling any better yet.
When Lucas changed positions, Melissa got up and sat on the couch behind him. Rubbing circles into his back, she curled up on the couch besides him. “Is there anything I can do..?”
"Mm… I-I dunno… h-hurts…" Lucas whispered weakly. "Meds aren't working yet… might take longer than usual…"
Melissa let out a weak sigh, still rubbing his back. I knew you should have taken medicine earlier… “Do you want a hot wash cloth? Or a cup of tea?”
"Y-Yeah, sure… anything is fine…" Lucas ran his fingers through his hair again, trembling a bit.
"Alright…" Melissa nodded, getting up and heading into the kitchen. Getting him a mug of hot tea, and a hot washcloth. Bringing them back, she sat back down on the couch. "Here, this should help."
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas sat up so he could drink the tea, keeping his eyes closed as he did so. "S-Sorry for being dumb…" He mumbled.
“Lu, you have a head ache. You’re not dumb.” Melissa whispered, playing with his hair.
"But I mean for not taking meds earlier… then I wouldn't be dealing with this at all…" Lucas sighed softly.
Melissa sighed softly, kissing his shoulder. “I should have probably pushed the issue. Don’t beat yourself up about it.” She continued to talk softly, setting a pillow on her lap. “You wanna lie back down?”
