Lucas nodded a bit, laughing weakly again. "Yeah… I mean, I was just trying to tell her like 'oh, um, I have a girlfriend, please stop' and she kinda just… ignored me."
Lucas nodded a bit, laughing weakly again. "Yeah… I mean, I was just trying to tell her like 'oh, um, I have a girlfriend, please stop' and she kinda just… ignored me."
“Mm… some girls don’t take no for an answer.” Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek softly. “I know I can be like that sometimes…” She murmured, playing with his hair some.
"I love you though, Mel…" Lucas murmured in reply, leaning into Melissa's gentle touch. "I don't mind giving you attention."
“But don’t you think it’s a little much at times? Doesn’t it ever bug you?” Melissa asked softly, holding onto his hands with hers. “I mean… it’s had to of annoyed you at some point.”
"No, I couldn't be annoyed by you, Mel." Lucas rested his head against Melissa's and hummed softly. "If you ask me to do something, I'm generally happy to oblige."
"Mm, is that so?" Melissa asked softly as she continued to nuzzle against him. "I find that a little hard to believe. I mean, come on, there's got to have been a time you really didn't want to do something."
Lucas shrugged a bit. "You're generally pretty reasonable, Mel. You don't ask me to do things that you know I can't or don't want to do."
"I guess so…" Melissa mumbled, shrugging as well. Letting out a soft sigh, she held onto his hand a little tighter. "I should probably be heading out… I don't want to be late. I think my boss is already annoyed with me because of yesterday."
"What happened yesterday?" Lucas asked softly. "If you're willing to talk about it, that is."
"It just… it wasn't a good night. A lot of annoyed customers, mostly." Melissa mumbled, fidgeting with her hands some. "I was um… pretty distracted yesterday."
Lucas nodded a bit and sighed, taking Melissa's hands in his own. "I'm sorry, Mel…"
Melissa gave him a soft look, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "It's not your fault. Or- um, not completely." She shrugged, kissing him before starting to pull away.
Lucas winced a bit when Melissa squeezed his hand and nodded. "I'm still sorry, though…"
Melissa immediately pulled her hand back, face cringing when he did wince. "Sorry… but um, you don't need to be." She mumbled, stepping into the kitchen. "I- I'm fine."
"Are you okay, Mel?" He asked softly. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No, no I'm alright… I just need to grab something to eat before I go. I- um, I kinda forgot earlier. And- and well I told you I would." Melissa mumbled, giving him an apologetic look.
Lucas tentatively nodded. "Alright, Mel… do you want me to make you something?"
"No, I got it… thank you though." Melissa hummed softly, pulling the fridge open. "Oh- um, if you don't mind, could you grab my bag off my bed? I'm going to walk out of the house without it, I swear…"
"Yeah, of course Mel. I'll be right back." Lucas headed up to Melissa's room and carefully picked up the bag, trying his best to avoid bearing the weight on his hands. He brought it back down a minute later and held it out to Melissa.
Melissa took it from him with a light smile, pulling it over her head and let it hang on her shoulder as she ate the sandwich she had made. "Thanks, Lu…" She mumbled, eating quietly after that.
"No problem. Is there anything you want me to do while you're at work?" He asked.
“No, I don’t need anything.” Melissa hummed, finishing off her sandwich. Dropping her plate in the sink, she turned back to him. “Not that I can think of at least. Just make sure you take care of yourself.”
"I'll try my best, Mel." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and moved a bit closer to her. "You do the same, okay?"
“I’ll try my best.” Melissa hummed softly, leaning forward to kiss him in return. “I love you babe… I’ll be back tonight, alright?” She hummed softly, giving him a gentle hug.
Lucas nodded a bit and returned the hug, holding Melissa close to himself for a moment. "Alright, Mel. I'll see you then."
Melissa lingered in his arms for a couple moments, hesitating before she pulled back. “Alright. I love you.” She repeated, starting to head towards the living room to get her coat and shoes.
"I love you too, Mel." Lucas waved goodbye and got himself settled at the table to do some homework in Melissa's absence.
(Should I go ahead and skip?)
(Yep ^^)
(👍 )
Late that evening, Melissa pulled into the driveway with a soft sigh. Getting out of the car, she headed into the house, brushing the fresh snow off of her before walking in the house. "Lu? You still up?" Melissa called softly, not wanting to disturb anyone who may be asleep.
