"Yeah, I'll be fine. It's just a flower shop, after all." Lucas smiled gently over at Melissa.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. It's just a flower shop, after all." Lucas smiled gently over at Melissa.
“That’s true.” Melissa laughed, looking over to him. “I guess the most dangerous thing that could happen is getting pricked by a thorn or something.” She hummed softly, turning her eyes back to the road.
"Mhmm. Hopefully it won't be too hard to readjust to working again." Lucas sighed softly.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to.” Melissa hummed softly, smiling softly as she pulled up at the floral shop. “Well, here you are. I wish you a good day at work. I’ll probably see you before I go.” She gave him a gentle smile, leaning over to kiss his cheek.
"Bye, Mel. See you later." Lucas returned the kiss and got out of the car, waving to Melissa with a soft smile before he went into the shop.
"Love you, Lu." She hummed, smiling at him as he got out of the car. Melissa waved back before driving off, back to the house.
(Skip?)
(Yep)
Lucas waited outside the flower shop, seeming confused and a bit flushed. He looked up when the car pulled up and got into the passenger seat.
Melissa turned down the radio when she pulled up to the flower shop, giving him a smile when he got in. "Hey! How was your day?" She asked with a hum, her smile dropping when she took notice of his confused state. "What's wrong?"
"It was fine, I'm just… confused." Lucas pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket and handed it over to Melissa, still looking bewildered. "Some girl came in and she gave me her number. I-I'm not really sure why, I mean… I didn't ask for it and I tried to explain that I have a girlfriend while she was giving it to me, but she didn't really listen… I didn't recognize her or anything, so I dunno if she goes to our school or not."
"Why are you…" Melissa let her words trail as she took the paper, glancing over it. With his explanation, a tight knot built up in her stomach. "Oh…" She muttered, handing him the paper back before starting to drive off. Her grip was a little bit tighter on the wheel as she drove, glancing over to him from where she sat. "You said you've never seen her before?"
Lucas shook his head, worried Melissa would be angry with him even though he hadn't done anything. "She looked a bit older than me, so I'm not sure what she wanted. I'm not gonna try and contact her, obviously… especially if she's got bad intentions or something."
Melissa nodded a bit, trying to get herself to relax. She wasn't mad at him, that much she knew. Quite honestly she wasn't sure what she was feeling- she just knew she didn't like this. The whole situation set her on edge. "Yeah. That seems like the smart thing to do." She mumbled.
"You're not angry with me, are you? I honestly don't even want the number. I'm as confused as you are." Lucas took off his hat and ran his fingers through his hair. "I mean, I was definitely surprised since that's… not something that usually happens to me."
"I'm not angry, not with you." Melissa insisted, glancing over to where he was sitting. "I just don't like that… it doesn't sit right with me. And it's got nothing to do with you. I promise." She insisted, gripping the wheel tight once again.
"R-Right…" Lucas still seemed a bit uneasy, worried that he'd upset Melissa even if it wasn't him she was upset with. "Is there anything I can do?"
Melissa shook her head, letting out a soft sigh. “No, I don’t think so. It’s just… I dunno. I’m sure you’re more uncomfortable with it than I’m bugged by it.” She mumbled, pulling up to the house.
Lucas nodded hesitantly, honestly not quite sure what to do. He paused before getting out of the car and sighing. "What do you think we should do about it?"
Melissa shrugged, getting out of the car with him. She glanced over to him as she pulled her keys out. "I dunno. There's not much we can do I guess. If she comes back and is making you uncomfortable, you could probably tell your boss."
"Yeah, I guess so…" Lucas sighed softly. "I think I might've seen her in the shop before, actually, but I've never actually interacted with her. Do you think she's stalking me?" He asked nervously.
"I doubt it. I mean, besides being at the flower shop, what could she do?" She asked softly, pulling the front door open. "Especially if I'm picking you up from work. I don't think it's a good idea to be walking, just in case."
"Right… I mean, if she was wanting to fight, I think I could probably take her." Lucas shrugged a bit and followed Melissa inside.
“I know, but still. I’d rather avoid the chance of you getting hurt.” Melissa mumbled, dropping her shoes and keys by the door. Pulling off her coat, she went and hung it up before turning to face him. “I- um, can I get you something to eat before I have to go?”
"No, I'm okay… I don't wanna make you late or anything." Lucas took Melissa's hand and gently kissed her cheek.
Melissa looked up at him, seeming to relax when he kissed her. "You wouldn't make me late." She hummed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"It's alright anyway. I can make myself something." Lucas sighed softly as he held onto Melissa. "You okay?"
Melissa hesitated before nodding a bit, looking back up at him with a weak smile. “Yeah, I think so. M’sorry if I seemed off in the car…”
"It's okay… I really don't blame you, Mel." Lived gently kissed Melissa again and sighed.
Melissa smiled weakly, taking his arms and pulling them around her waist from behind. “Mm… I’m still sorry. I- um… I shouldn’t be jealous… especially over something like that.”
"No, really. I can't blame you." Lucas laughed weakly. "I really wasn't sure what to do when it happened, but I figured I should tell you anyway."
“Mm, I’m glad you didn’t try to keep it a secret from me… I’d probably be more upset then.” Melissa admitted, nuzzling against him with a soft smile. “I’m sure it was probably awkward, huh?”
