Lucas gently pet Cody and sighed. "I dunno what's up with him… I just brought him back down here so he wouldn't bother your parents."
Lucas gently pet Cody and sighed. "I dunno what's up with him… I just brought him back down here so he wouldn't bother your parents."
Melissa nodded, kissing the top of Cody's head. "Thank you… I'm sorry if he was causing trouble." She hummed a little, petting his ears.
Lucas shrugged a bit. "It's not your fault. I'm curious what he was so upset about, though."
Melissa nodded, looking back up the stairs. "So am I…" She muttered, yawning a bit before turning back to him. "I'm kind of tired, would you care if I went and got ready for bed?"
"Yeah, go ahead… I should probably go back to sleep as well." Lucas yawned and started wrapping his hands back up.
"Probably," Melissa hummed, starting to get up. Kissing his forehead, she gave him a gentle smile. "I love you…"
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas finished bandaging his hands and huddled back up on the couch, soon falling asleep again.
Melissa had gone to get ready, coming down a little while later. Curling up on the couch besides him, she was asleep in almost no time.
Lucas was gone in the morning when Melissa woke up, seemingly doing something in the kitchen. He tried to stay as quiet as he could so he wouldn't wake Melissa.
Melissa still had Cody curled up against her while she slept. But it wasn’t too long until Melissa got up, carrying Cody with her when she walked into the kitchen. “Mm… why are you up already..?”
"Making breakfast… I gotta be at work by ten, so…" Lucas sighed softly and continued cooking himself what appeared to be scrambled eggs.
"Oh… um, right," Melissa mumbled, setting Cody down on the floor before feeding him. "Um, well, can I help?"
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I'm almost done, so not really. You want any?"
Melissa looked up at him, shaking her head a bit. "No, I'm alright. I'm not really hungry." She shrugged, pulling her hair back before coming and resting her chin on his shoulder.
"Alright… make sure you eat something while I'm gone, okay?" Lucas pulled the eggs off the heat and put them on a plate.
"Yeah, will do." Melissa mumbled, kissing his shoulder before stepping back. "You want me to get you something to drink?"
"Nah, I'm alright…" Lucas sat down at the table to start eating. "What time is it?"
"Um…" Melissa sat down at the table with him, checking her phone. "A little after nine. You've got time… do you want me to drive you?"
"You can if you want, yeah. Otherwise I could just walk." Lucas shrugged a bit.
"It's cold though, you'll freeze." Melissa insisted, reaching over to loosely hold onto his free hand. "I don't mind driving if you don't mind me doing it."
"Yeah, that's fine…" Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek. "I gotta learn how to drive at some point."
"Mm… wonder if you can before summer…" Melissa stated softly, resting her chin on the table. "It'd be convenient, so you wouldn't have to be trying to study all summer."
"Yeah, I guess so." Lucas shrugged and finished his food. "When do you want to leave?"
"Whenever you're ready. I just need to grab shoes and a coat." Melissa hummed, getting up. "Just tell me when you're ready and we can go."
"Alright." Lucas grabbed his own coat and shoes and headed to the door. "I'm ready now if you are."
"Okay, I'll be out in just a second," Melissa called back, pulling on her shoes. "You can take the keys and go start the car. If you want to."
Lucas hesitantly nodded and did as he was told, carefully starting the car and sitting in the passenger seat.
Melissa was out, not even a full minute later. Getting in the driver's seat, she glanced over to Lucas with a little smile before buckling in. "Ready?"
"Mhmm." Lucas got buckled and smiled softly. "You'll take care of Cody while I'm at work, yeah?"
“Yeah of course. Me and him will be just fine at the house.” Melissa hummed, pulling out of the driveway. “You’ll be alright at work, right?”
