"Then you should do that…" Melissa agreed, wrapping her free arm around his shoulders. "You want me to go get them? Or do you want to?"
"Then you should do that…" Melissa agreed, wrapping her free arm around his shoulders. "You want me to go get them? Or do you want to?"
"I can get them…" Lucas reluctantly pulled away so he could go grab his medicine. He tipped a couple of pills into his hand and swallowed them with a shaky sigh.
Melissa pulled back to let him take his meds, finishing making her tea. Quietly she sipped from the mug, glancing over to him. "Anything I can do to make things better?"
Lucas shrugged a bit and sighed. "I dunno… just gotta wait for them to kick in and hopefully I'll calm down."
Melissa nodded a bit, continuing to quietly drink her tea. “M’kay… I love you.” She hummed, reaching for his hand with her free one. “I love you a lot.”
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and pulled her close, burying his face in her shoulder while he waited for the meds to kick in.
Melissa didn’t push him away as she continued to drink her tea. She rested her head on his with a soft sigh. “You happy standing here, or do you want to go sit down on the couch.”
"We can sit down if you want to…" Lucas mumbled, still sticking close to Melissa. "Sorry for being so high maintenance."
“It’s fine, honey. I don’t mind.” Melissa whispered, kissing his head gently. “I don’t care if we stand, I just wanted to know what you wanted.”
"I'm fine to sit down…" Lucas returned the kiss and held tightly to Melissa's hand as he headed over to the couch.
Melissa dropped down on the couch, patting the spit next to her after setting her tea on the coffee table. “You wanna lay down, or sit up?”
"I'll sit with you…" Lucas huddled up against Melissa's side, still trembling lightly. "The meds will start working soon, right?"
"Yeah… they will." Melissa nodded a bit, resting her head against his. "They'll start working in a little bit."
Lucas nodded as well and sighed. After a while, he started relaxing a bit and stopped shifting around so much.
When he seemed to have relaxed, Melissa looked down at him with a little smile. "You doing any better?" She asked softly, taking his hand in hers.
"A little, yeah… sorry for being all weird…" Lucas murmured. "How long until I gotta go to therapy?"
"It's just fine, Lu." Melissa hummed, staying curled up beside him. "And in a couple of hours… I dunno if you want to try and get anything done before going."
"I dunno… are the cookies burning?" He asked softly. "The ones I put in a while ago…"
Melissa looked at him, sitting up. "Well, I forgot about those…" She mumbled with a soft sigh. "I'll go check on them. You can stay here if you want."
"Okay…" Lucas got up with Melissa anyway and followed her into the kitchen, eyeing the oven warily and hoping the cookies weren't burnt.
When Melissa pulled the tray out of the oven, she noted they were a little darker than they were probably meant to be but weren't burnt. "They look fine, and they smell really good." She hummed softly, setting the tray on the top of the stove.
Lucas seemed a bit skeptical, but nodded anyway. "Yeah… maybe we can try some of them later. I'm not super hungry right now…"
"Yeah sure, I'll put them in a container for now. How's that sound?" Melissa asked softly, touching the tops of one of the cookies to make sure they were fully cooked.
"Yeah, that sounds fine… are you sure they aren't burnt?" Lucas asked. "They look kinda dark…"
"They're fine, but like you said, just a little dark. That's all." Melissa hummed, leaving them to sit there for a couple of minutes to cool. "You wanna go back in sit in the other room?"
"Yeah, I guess so…" Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek and led her back into the living room. "Hopefully they'll taste good, at least…"
“I’m sure they will. You need to give yourself a little more faith.” Melissa hummed softly, sitting on the couch and holding her arms out. “C’mon, cuddle time.”
Lucas huddled up in Melissa's arms and wrapped his arms around her as well. "Mmm… it's hard to have faith in myself considering my track record…"
“Well, we’re gonna start now, alright? Because if you never have faith in yourself, nothing is ever gonna get better.” Melissa hummed, nuzzling up against him.
"Right…" Lucas buried his face in Melissa's shoulder and sighed. "I love you, Mel… you're too good to me…"
