"It's just coffins."
"It's just coffins."
Nyx, disappointed, slumped slightly. "Well, I guess it's back to the house, then."
"Yep!" They went back to the house.
"So, where to first?" Beckett asked. "Thank God the old man finally left. Talk about delusions of grandeur…anyways, I'm guessing that you wanna find a candy store, right Pepper? And is there anything you're looking for, Iv?"
He shoved one hand into his pocket and flipped off the forest with the other. Goddamn trees.
“Nothing comes to mind.” Ivchenko puts out his cigarette, putting his hands in his pockets. “I’ll come wherever you all go.”
They appeared on the front lawn, and Nyx, shuddering slightly with the chill, buttoned her jacket back up, having undone it in the warm Egyptian night. It was late afternoon.
"That was fun!"
"Yeah, it was." Nyx looked up at the enormous house. "Shall we go inside?"
"Yep!" He said, walking in
Nyx followed him, rubbing her chilly hands together. "I wonder where everybody else is."
"They went to the candy store."
"Oh." Nyx nodded. Probably to get Peppermint even more candy, she thought.
"yes… like peppermint needs more candy…"
"So, where to first?" Beckett asked. "Thank God the old man finally left. Talk about delusions of grandeur…anyways, I'm guessing that you wanna find a candy store, right Pepper? And is there anything you're looking for, Iv?"

"I've got no clue either," Beckett said. "Pepper, you wanna lead the way?" He was sort of familiar with the general small-town layout, but not with this one in particular. Plus, Peppermint seemed to have some sort of sixth sense when it came to sugar.
(I don't even know what the town looks like lol)
(I'm so bad at stuff like that…)
"Yeah!" Peppermint led the group out of the forest and down seemingly random roads, before they stopped in front of a candy store. The store had wide windows, revealing a colorful interior, and red-and white awnings. "Found it!" The girl pushed open the door, giggling as the bell rang. A woman with bright pink hair and a red-and-white striped dress approached the trio. "I like your hair, miss! And your dress, too!"
Cora would've loved this, Beckett thought as he entered the store. It reminded him of one his family had gone to up north. Big baskets of colorful taffies lined the counters, and other loose candies were held similarly. The cases themselves housed all types of chocolates. On the other side of the shop there was row of stools and another counter, which was in front of an old-fashioned soda fountain. Beckett walked over to the checkout.
"One dark chocolate toffee, please," he said.
In the candy store, Ivchenko couldn’t help but feel almost out of place. He’d never been to any place like this. But despite being unaccustomed to the area, Ivchenko decided to get something. A lollipop. That sounded good. He scanned the selections that were available.
"Do you wanna go find them?" They were inside now, and it was blissfully warm.
"Nah…" He sighed
"Good. I didn't really want to either. Peppermint on a sugar high is not a pretty sight." She smirked slightly, hoping Beckett and the other whatever-it-was would be able to deal with the child. They could manage it if they worked together, right?
"I'm glad…"
She turned to him. "Glad?"
"Glad they're gone."
"Pepper, you can't spend that much on candy," Beckett reprimanded the girl. "While I'm all for embezzling that jackass's funds, there's way better things to spend it on than a bunch of lollipops and stuff. Y'know, like medical bills, or gasoline, or a college education…" He trailed off, realizing that the kid almost definitely wasn't following along. She was too young to be worried about that sort of thing anyways.
"Ah." Nyx nodded. She was secretly glad too. She looked around the giant house and headed for the living room. "Well, guess we've got the house to ourselves."
And just like that, Seven's voice and face and smile flashed through her head.
Anne's at a meeting. Do you wanna play a game?
What game?
Hide and seek. You're it!
Nyx flicked her head slightly, as though to shake off the memory, and flopped on the couch.
"What did you think about the pyramids?"
He was planning on cutting the funds. So he slowly took a 100 dollars away every 10 seconds.
He smirked.
"I'm so evil…" He said, being slightly egoistic.
In 16.6666666… minutes, all the money would be gone.
Beckett tossed a wad of cash to the cashier.
"That should cover everything," he said, then grabbed Peppermint's candy-sticky hand.
"Y'know, I've always wanted to do that," he laughed once the three of them exited the candy store. "Slightly less exciting than I'd hoped, but what isn't? Now listen, I wanna find an ER before my bones reset themselves."
