"I- I know that… it's just- hard, to think about myself first." Melissa mumbled, shoulders relaxing at the soft kiss. "And I'm still sorry… I shouldn't be over here like this when you need someone to be here for you."
"I- I know that… it's just- hard, to think about myself first." Melissa mumbled, shoulders relaxing at the soft kiss. "And I'm still sorry… I shouldn't be over here like this when you need someone to be here for you."
"I could say the same for myself, Mel. I'm always making you feel like your problems aren't important because I'm always freaking out about something stupid and you have to calm me down. It's not fair of me to do that to you."
“B-but… your reasons feel more valid.” Melissa mumbled, resting her chin on his shoulder. “To me at least.”
"It might seem that way, but your problems are just as valid as mine, okay? You deserve to get help for them."
Melissa let out a weak sigh, nodding a little. She buried her face in his shoulder, huddling up even closer to him. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry I’m difficult. I- I know I tell you not to apologize, but… but I feel bad. I shouldn’t be making you try to calm me down right now.”
"You're not difficult, Mel. I'm sure I'm difficult to deal with most of the time." Lucas laughed weakly. "You deserve help, okay? I'm happy to help you."
Melissa looked up at him, sighing softly with a little nod. “Right…” She mumbled, hesitantly reaching up to run her fingers through his hair.
Lucas leaned into Melissa's hand and closed his eyes, sighing softly. "I love you, Mel…"
Melissa gave him a weak smile, continuing to play with his hair. "Love you too… so very much…" She whispered, starting to relax even more.
"You wanna go somewhere to calm down, Mel?" Lucas asked softly. "The uh… the clearing, maybe?"
Melissa looked up at him, giving him a little smile. "Maybe…" She mumbled, nuzzling against him. "Can we? Do you mind?"
"Yeah, we can go, Mel." Lucas smiled gently. "I'm always happy to go to the clearing, you know that."
"M'kay…" Melissa hummed, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I need to grab my shoes, but then we can go, right? I can tell dad where we're going."
"Alright. I'll grab our coats while you do that." Lucas got to his feet and went to fetch their coats.
Melissa followed behind him, heading up the stairs to her room. Quickly she pulled on a pair of shoes before tapping on her father's door and stepping in. "Hey, dad, me and Lucas are going to the park." She hummed softly, making sure not to speak too loudly, on the off chance he was in a meeting. Glancing up at her, he gave her a weak smile and nodded. "Alright honey. You two be safe." He mumbled back, before turning his gaze back to the computer screen. "Yes sir… we will be." Melissa nodded a little, giving him a concerned look before shutting the door. Heading down the stairs, she started fidgeting with her hands as she came up to Lucas. "We're good to go."
Lucas looked up when Melissa came back down and nodded, helping her into her coat. "Alright. Are you okay?" He asked softly. "You seem more worried than you were before. Is something bothering you?"
Melissa looked up at him after adjusting her coat, seeming distracted. “Huh? Oh- um… I- I’m fine. Just kinda worried about dad, that’s all.” She mumbled, fidgeting still.
"Your dad?" Lucas looked up, seeming a bit confused as he opened the door for Melissa. "What's up with him? Is he okay?"
"I- I dunno. He seemed off, and kinda stressed…" Melissa mumbled, glancing up the stairs once before heading out the door. "I- I've only seen him like that once or twice before, and it never came with a good reason."
"What were the reasons before?" Lucas asked softly, taking Melissa's hand as he walked along. "Maybe he's just stressed from work?"
Melissa gently rested her head on his shoulder, letting out a weak sigh. "Well… um, the last time, he and mom were fighting. Something happened when you were gone, and they both seemed upset. I- um… I don't really know what about though."
(Sorry! Thought I replied ^^;)
Lucas tensed up a bit and nodded. "Right… makes sense. Um… do you think there's anything we can do to help?" He asked.
(It's all good!)
Melissa kept fidgeting with her hands, shaking her head. "No- I um… I don't think so. I tried last time, but I think I only upset him more…" She mumbled still, keeping a loose hold on his hand. "I don't know what to do…"
Lucas nodded a bit. "Well, maybe he needs some time to relax. We could bring him coffee or something if you think it might help."
Melissa glanced over to Lucas, giving him a weak smile. “Maybe… besides that I don’t know if we could do anything else.” She mumbled, sighing softly as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Lucas shrugged and pulled Melissa closer to himself. "I'm sure he'll be okay, yeah? He's good at dealing with me, so I'm sure he can handle himself okay too, right?"
Melissa looked up at him, nodding a little before relaxing in his arms. “Yeah I guess so… I just feel bad. He does so much for me, and I feel like I can never make it up to him.”
"I feel that way a lot, honestly… but I'm sure he'll be alright. We can check on him when we get back, if you'd like."
"Maybe…" Melissa mumbled, sighing softly. "I- I'll probably try talking to him… maybe see if I can help. When we get home, of course."
Lucas nodded a bit and gently kissed Melissa's cheek. "We'll make sure he's okay. Everything will be fine."
