"I'm sure Zachary can handle it. He can do everything Halm does for the work, after all." Derlik offered a small smile.
"I'm sure Zachary can handle it. He can do everything Halm does for the work, after all." Derlik offered a small smile.
"Really?" Nix looked up at Derlik curiously. "I dunno how I feel about Zachary… Cas likes him, obviously, but I don't think I trust him."
"He's a lot better than the other," Derlik said, sighing some. "He's an okay man."
Nix hummed skeptically, looking away. "He rubs me the wrong way. I feel like he's pressuring Cas into lying to me."
"Oh? What does he want Cas to lie about?" Perhaps Derlik could clear up some things, distance Nix more from the two men.
"About you, remember? He's trying to make me think you're bad." Nix huffed a bit.
Derlik sighed.
"No one he's been around ever likes me," Derlik admitted, referring to Halm.
"Yeah, well, we obviously can't trust his judgement considering all the stuff he's done to me. I don't buy it."
"I don't either. I'm glad you're smart enough to see through him." Derlik hummed, kissing Nix's head.
Nix nodded a bit. "I think he's tricking Cas, though, and I dunno what I should do…"
"Well… we could try to show Cas he isn't telling the truth," Derlik hummed some, thinking.
"True, but… he probably won't trust us. He trusts Zachary more than he trusts either of us."
"Which is sad… Zachary works for him, after all." Derlik shook his head some.
"Yeah… but he did hurt Zachary a lot, so I guess that's enough for Cas to trust him."
"I guess so. Though, by that logic Cas should trust me, too." Derlik shook his head again, resting it on Nix's head.
"Did he hurt you?" Nix asked, looking up at Derlik with a confused expression.
"He has before," Derlik said, looking down at Nix. "He… turned me into a stone statue for a while."
"What?? Why would he do that?!" Nix asked, now louder and more upset.
"I was doing too much work, and he didn't like it," Derlik said, sighing some.
"That's a stupid reason to turn you into a statue! You were being helpful!" Nix huffed, turning his ears back.
"That's not what he thought," Derlik said, sighing some. "But it's okay, now. He doesn't have the energy to try to do that to me again."
Nix crossed his arms and looked away, seething. "He shouldn't have done that to you. He's just abusing his power."
"He was," Derlik hummed. "But it's okay now, see? I don't look like stone to you, do I?" The god chuckled some, trying to get Nix to calm down.
"No, but still! He needs to be stopped!" Nix insisted. "He can't be allowed to continue like this. He'll hurt more people."
"He can't continue," Derlik assured calmly. "He's not even powerful enough to get out of bed, remember? It's okay, Nix."
"I know, I know, but still. He'll just go back and be the same once he's better, won't he?"
"Mhm. That's why I don't plan on helping him to." Derlik offered a smile to Nix.
"Mm." Nix still didn't seem entirely convinced. "I dunno. Is there anything else we can do?"
"There's nothing more we should do," Derlik said softly.
Nix huffed a bit, still clearly annoyed. "I don't trust him. What if he's faking it or something?"
