"It's so stupid. Can't I do it for you?" She asked softly, resting her chin on his shoulder. "Then you don't have to- you can just look over the work or something."
"It's so stupid. Can't I do it for you?" She asked softly, resting her chin on his shoulder. "Then you don't have to- you can just look over the work or something."
"We already agreed that I'm not gonna cheat on it, darling. And I couldn't possibly put that on you anyway."
"But… but there's so much of it. And you've been stressed out about it, and… and I hate seeing you like that…" Melissa whispered, holding on a little bit tighter to him.
"I know, Mel… it's definitely not great how much it's been stressing me out, but… the meds help." He shrugged a bit.
"But you shouldn't have to rely on the medications." Melissa insisted, looking up at him. "None of this is fair. It's just… frustrating."
"I know it is, but I don't have any other option. I've got to get it done." Lucas hugged Melissa and sighed.
"It's ridiculous, though. Half the time us students can't get one assignment done when it's due, but when you have to all of them, it's just…" Melissa let out a frustrated huff, leaning up against him.
"Yeah, it's a lot to do all at once, but school doesn't really care… I'm lucky I didn't have to do it while I was in the hospital."
Melissa sighed weakly, burying her face in his chest. "I guess so…" She mumbled as she curled up closer.
"I love you, Mel…" Lucas murmured. "I'm lucky to have someone who cares so much about me."
“Mm… love you too.” Melissa hummed, leaning back against him. “I’m lucky to have you, too. You mean everything to me.”
"Ditto~…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and held her close. "I'll still have to go back to my work soon, though."
Melissa sighed softly, loosening her hold. "I know… I really don't want you to, though. I wanna talk to you, and be with you…"
"I know, Mel… we can have lunch first and relax for a few minutes, and then I can get back to work, yeah?"
“Yeah…” Melissa mumbled, resting her head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry for being whiny.”
"Don't worry so much about it, Mel… you have to listen to me whine all the time." Lucas laughed softly.
“Mm, alright…” Melissa mumbled, nuzzling up against him before pulling back. “I’ll finish making lunch.”
"Sounds good to me, love… it's probably nearly cooked by now, yeah? Pasta doesn't take too long…"
Melissa nodded, shutting the stove off. “Yeah, it really doesn’t.” She hummed, attaining the water from the pasta. “Do you think you could open the jar of sauce?”
"Yeah, sure." Lucas opened the jar easily, thankfully able to use his good hand to do so. His injured arm still wouldn't be quite strong enough.
Melissa smiled softly, glancing over to him. "Thanks, love." She chirped as she took it from him.
"No problem, Mel." Lucas stretched a bit and yawned. "Homework is stupid…"
"It really is, Lu…" Melissa mumbled, grabbing bowls for the two of them. "Here, have some lunch."
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas got himself a bowl of spaghetti and sat down to eat it, seeming pretty content for the moment.
Melissa took her own bowl, sitting down besides him at the table. “Do you think we could go to the park? Just for a little bit… I’ve got work again, tonight.”
"Yeah, sure Mel. We can go to the park if you want." Lucas smiled gently and ate some more of his spaghetti.
"Alright… we can take Cody too, right?" Melissa asked softly, fiddling with her fork. "I don't want to leave the puppy here…"
"Yeah, of course. We can bring him." Lucas smiled gently. "Do you want to go to the clearing?"
“I’d love that…” Melissa hummed softly, leaning forward on her seat to eat. “Mm, you up for that?”
"Mhmm. I can do some more of my work later… I'm sure I can afford to take a short break, yeah?"
