"I… I get that," Derlik said softly. "I hope that, at least… I can help you feel safe with me."
"I… I get that," Derlik said softly. "I hope that, at least… I can help you feel safe with me."
"Mm…" Nix didn't really reply, only sighing and huddling closer. He was growing tired of this conversation, and in general.
"Here, do you want to explore more?" Derlik wanted to distract Nix, from all of this heavy stuff. He deserved to be happy.
"Sure, I guess… what are we gonna find in a cave, though?" He asked softly, looking up from where he'd hidden his face.
"I m not sure," Derlik admitted. "I've never been able to get so far into these caves before."
"Why not? Are they dangerous?" Nix asked anxiously. "Should we leave?"
"No, no, it's not because they're dangerous," Derlik assured. "I'm usually just not allowed into the Underworld is all. There's no problem, Nix, I promise."
"O-Okay…" Nix clung tightly to Derlik, looking around warily. "What if we get lost in here?"
"I'll just teleport us out," Derlik said. He moved to kiss Nix's head gain, rubbing his back to try to calm him down.
"Okay…" Nix buried his face in Derlik's shoulder, still seeming pretty uneasy, but falling quiet anyway.
"We can leave, if you want to," Derlik said softly. "I don't want to worry you."
"I'm fine…" Nix insisted. "I'm just being stupid and paranoid again…"
"Hey." Derlik moved to gently cup Nix's cheeks, looking down at him.
"You're not being stupid, Nix."
"I am being stupid… it's just a cave and I'm nervous for no reason."
"You're not being nervous for no reason," Derlik assured.
"Should I be worried about something, then?" He asked, glancing around uneasily.
Derlik shook his head.
"You're nervous because your brain is being mean," the god explained.
"Well, how am I supposed to make it stop? It's been doing that for a while now."
"We just have to work on it slowly," Derlik admitted. "It'll take time."
"I'm not very patient, though…" Nix sighed, huffing a bit. "Wish it would just be quiet…"
"I know, Nix," Derlik said, chuckling softly. He ran his fingers through Nix's hair, placing a kiss to his head.
"Mm… and it seems like something bad is always happening to me. It doesn't really get better."
Derlik nodded a bit more, resting his head on the man's.
"We'll work on it," Derlik assured.
"How's it supposed to work on it while we're stuck at his house, though?"
"I'm going to make sure he doesn't ever even show his face," Derlik assured.
Nix sighed. "But how are you supposed to do that? It's his house."
"He's weak right now," Derlik explained. "I managed to patch him up, but he's not moving from bed any time soon."
"But he'll heal eventually, won't he? He won't be stuck there forever."
"Perhaps," Derlik said, shrugging some. "If not, that's one less thing for us to worry about."
"But if he doesn't do his job, then bad things will happen, right?"
