"I don't wanna, though… m'sleepy…." Melissa pouted as she curled up more in defiance.
"I don't wanna, though… m'sleepy…." Melissa pouted as she curled up more in defiance.
"But we gottaaaaaa~" Lucas teased in reply. "Even though it's stupid, we gotta do it."
"I don't want toooo…" Melissa whined even more, burying her face in his chest. "Why do we have to?"
"Because we don't wanna fail school, Mel." Lucas sighed and rested his head on Melissa's.
Melissa mumbled something under her breath, looking up at him. "It doesn't seem fair that we have to stress ourselves over school."
"It isn't fair, no. School doesn't care how mentally unstable we are, though, and we've gotta do it anyway."
"But… but it's stressful…" Melissa sighed weakly, going somewhat limp in his arms. "And tiresome."
"I know it is, but it doesn't really care." He laughed weakly. "School's always gonna be giving us more work."
Melissa let out a heavy sigh, burying her face in his chest. "I really hate it…" She mumbled still.
"Me too, Mel… but it'll be good to be back, yeah? At least for me…" He sighed and huddled closer to Melissa.
Melissa shrugged some, staying curled up against him. “Can’t I be homeschooled..?”
"Mm… probably not. I'm not sure what all your parents remember about high school subjects." Lucas laughed softly.
“It’s not really fair to make them teach me…” Melissa mumbled, looking up at him. “I really don’t want to go back…”
"Mm… hopefully it'll be better, yeah? I mean, I'll be back, so hopefully I can stick near you…"
“Yeah, but still…” Melissa mumbled more, playing with her sleeves. “I don’t like school. I really only have a few friends, and one of them is literally living with me.”
Lucas smiled gently and pulled Melissa bit closer. "I know… and school's never going to be fun, but we'll get through it."
“I don’t even care if it’s fun or not anymore, I’ve given up hope that it will be. I just wish it wasn’t so much…” Melissa sighed softly, looking up at him.
"I know, Mel… hopefully it'll be a bit better. We can help each other with our work now, yeah? We'll get through this."
Melissa nodded as she went quiet, leaning up against him. She quietly traced into his chest as they lay together.
Lucas sighed softly and closed his eyes, holding her close. "I love you…" He murmured.
"Love you, too…" Melissa mumbled, nuzzling against his cheek. "You mean a lot to me, darling…"
"Ditto~…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and hummed to himself. "When do you wanna go back down?"
"I don't wanna…." Melissa huffed, burying her face in his chest at that. "Can't we stay?"
"Not really, unfortunately… we gotta go do it." Lucas nuzzled against Melissa a bit.
"But I don't want to…" Melissa mumbled, hugging him tighter. "Please…"
"Melissa, come on… we can't put it off. You know we'll regret it later." Lucas sighed.
Melissa went quiet, head on his chest. She let out a soft sigh. "Yeah, but… but…"
"You'll hate it more if you put it off, Mel. Then you'll have to do it all at once."
Glancing up at him, she huffed out of frustration. "Why do you have to be right?"
Lucas smiled gently at Melissa. "Mm… I occasionally say smart things, you know."
