Nodding just a little, Melissa buried her face in his shoulder. "Alright, alright… love you…" She mumbled, holding on tightly.
Nodding just a little, Melissa buried her face in his shoulder. "Alright, alright… love you…" She mumbled, holding on tightly.
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas murmured softly. "What do you wanna do now?" He asked. "Homework?"
Melissa huffed as she looked up at him, holding on a little tighter. “I don’t want to do homework… but we need to…”
"I know, Mel… we gotta do it, unfortunately." Lucas smiled weakly. "Hopefully they didn't give you too much over the break."
Melissa shrugged, pulling away from him. “I’ve done a majority of it. There was just a couple things I didn’t get done.”
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright… I've still got plenty of work to do." He sat down at the table to get to work.
Melissa sat down next to him, pulling her own work from her backpack. Quietly she began working on it, trying not to let herself get distracted.
Lucas scribbled down answers quietly, sighing softly every once in a while if he was growing frustrated.
Melissa has managed to zone in on her school work, blocking out a lot of other sounds. Eventually she glanced up at him, reaching over for his hand. “You alright?”
"Yeah, m'alright…" Lucas murmured in reply, allowing Melissa to hold onto his free hand while he worked. "You?"
“I’m fine…” She replied softly, resting her head on his shoulder. “I don’t want to be doing school, though.”
"Same…" Lucas yawned a bit and kept working on his assignments.
Melissa sighed weakly, keeping a hold on his hand as she went back to work.
Lucas finished one assignment and went on to another, taking a moment to flex his sore hand.
Melissa glanced up at him when he started to shift, leaning over to kiss his cheek. "Love you…" She mumbled, continuing to write.
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas gently returned the kiss and kept writing for a while.
Melissa kept her head on his shoulder as she worked, keeping quiet for the most part. She really only spoke up when Mr. Brennahan had come downstairs for breakfast. Though he had noticed they were working, and left before he distracted them.
Lucas glanced up when he heard Mr. Brennahan come in, nodding politely to him before returning to his work. "We can take a break soon if you'd like, Mel…" He murmured.
"Only if you want…" Melissa mumbled in return, keeping her fingers laced with his. Glancing up at him, she gently started nuzzling against him. "I don't want to take you away…"
Lucas smiled gently. "It'll be okay to take a few minutes to relax… how's it going for you?" He asked.
Melissa shrugged a little, gently kissing him before pulling away. "Not bad… I guess." She hummed, setting her pencil aside.
Lucas nodded a bit and returned the kiss. "That's good… I've still got a lot to do, to be honest."
Sighing softly, a slight pout settled on her lips. "Can I help in any way?" She asked softly, folding her arms on the table.
"Probably not, unfortunately… I've just got months of makeup work." Lucas laughed weakly.
“Come on, there’s gotta be something I can do… I can’t even help explain some of the stuff?” Melissa asked softly.
"I mean, you're welcome to try." Lucas shrugged a bit. "But you've got your own work to do."
“I know… but I want you to get through your work.” Melissa mumbled, looking up at him. “I’ll be fine to get through my own work later.”
"I'll get through it eventually, Mel… we knew it would be a lot." Lucas smiled weakly to reassure Melissa.
“Yeah- but still… I want to help you when I can.” Melissa whispered, sitting up and wrapping her arms around him.
"I know you do, Mel… I mean, if you've got any notes, I suppose that would help."
