Melissa nodded, letting go of him. "Alright… anything I can do to help?" She asked softly.
Melissa nodded, letting go of him. "Alright… anything I can do to help?" She asked softly.
"Nah, you can just sit back and relax, darling." Lucas cracked the eggs into a bowl and started stirring them with a fork.
Melissa nodded, going over and sitting at the table. "How much work do you have left?" She asked softly, starting to look through the pile of school he had.
"Uh…" Lucas glanced over at his stack of papers. "…A lot. Several hours, at the very least."
Melissa let out a soft sigh, folding her arms, and resting them on the table. "I just want to do it for you… so you don't have to." She mumbled mostly to herself.
Lucas laughed weakly. "Yeah… it's not exactly the most fun. I'm sure I'll get through it, though."
Melissa looked over to him, giving a half smile. “It really isn’t… but you’re right. You’re a lot closer to being done than I had thought.”
"Yeah, me too… if I really work at it, I might finish before school's back in." Lucas laughed weakly.
“You mean if I don’t distract you.” Melissa hummed, keeping her chin on the table. “But I’ll be doing my own work- so I’ll probably be busy.”
"That's not what I mean, Mel. I mean it's a lot of work and I'll have to work pretty hard to get it all done." Lucas poured the eggs into a pan and started cooking them.
“Yeah, but I’ve been known to be a distraction. So me, plus all the work, doesn’t really exactly work out.” Melissa insisted, looking over to him.
"I don't think you're a distraction, Mel. You're too hard on yourself." Lucas soon finished the eggs and brought them over to the table.
Melissa glanced up at him, taking the plate. “But I can be… I kept you from school for a majority of the day yesterday. And the only time you got something accomplished, was when I was gone, right?”
"Mel, please… it's fine. I appreciated the break yesterday." Lucas got some eggs for himself and started to eat.
Melissa grew quiet, picking up a fork with a light sigh. "Right…" She mumbled, eating in silence after that.
Lucas finished his eggs and brought his plate over to the sink to wash.
After a couple minutes, Melissa got up and did the same as Lucas. “Thanks…” She mumbled, hesitantly wrapping her arms around his waist.
"No problem, Mel… was it edible, at least?" He asked with a soft laugh.
Melissa nodded, leaning up against him. "Yeah, it was good… probably could have used more salt, but m'not complaining…"
Lucas laughed a bit more. "Sorry, I'm not the best chef. Glad you were able to eat it, though."
"You don't have to apologize…" Melissa stated, slowly pulling back and looking up at him. A gentle smile stayed on her face as she still loosely held onto him. "Y'know… you have the most gorgeous eyes…"
Lucas flushed at the compliment and looked away, smiling sheepishly. "I'm… I'm glad you think so, Mel… yours are lovely as well."
Melissa giggled, wrapping her arms around him tighter. “Mm… I like yours best…” She hummed, kissing his cheek.
"Mel~…" Lucas whined playfully, his cheeks still flushed. "Why you gotta dooooo that?"
"Because I feel like you need more love than I give you." Melissa insisted, resting her head against him. "And I don't really know how else to give it to you."
Lucas flushed again. "Am I really that needy?" He asked softly, obviously a bit embarrassed with himself.
"Needy?" Melissa asked softly, glancing up at him. "I mean, just a little, but I don't mind. I'm plenty needy. But mostly I'm just concerned you don't know I love you."
"Of course I know you love me, Mel… you wouldn't put up with half the shit I pull if you didn't." Lucas laughed weakly.
"I just… I know I don't act like it sometimes. And I'm sorry." Melissa hummed, reaching up to play with his hair. "I really do love you… so, so much."
"I love you too, Mel… and I think you show it plenty. Don't worry yourself so much about it." Lucas gently kissed Melissa.
