Derlik raised his hand to scratch behind Nix's ears, stepping out of the room to head to the kitchen.
"Mm…"
Derlik raised his hand to scratch behind Nix's ears, stepping out of the room to head to the kitchen.
"Mm…"
Nix leaned into Derlik's gentle touch, still purring softly. "How long do you think we'll have to stay here?" He asked softly.
"Hopefully, not long at all," Derlik said. He was being optimistic, though. More likely than not… they wouldn't get to leave again. Not with Mother.
Nix nodded a bit. "Yeah… I'm sure there's some way to get out of this place. I don't wanna be here…"
"I'm sure too. I don't want you to be here either." Derlik kissed the top of Nix's head, looking around in the kitchen to find them something to eat.
Nix yawned and glanced around the kitchen to see what food there was. "I can't really see anything… do you?"
"Not really anything I know how to cook," Derlik admitted. "Wanna head up to Earth for a hot second to get something from a restaurant?"
"Sure, I guess so…" Nix held a bit tighter to Derlik. "Do you have money?"
"Oh, for sure," Derlik said, offering a smile. "We'll be okay, I promise."
"If you say so." Nix yawned again and rubbed at his eyes, touching his sharp teeth with one finger.
Derlik turned to walk out of the kitchen towards the front door, nodding. He chuckled softly as Nix yawned, scratching his head.
"What kinda food are we gonna get?" He asked sleepily. "Do I have to disguise myself?"
"I'm going to go to a very special town, so you won't have to disguise yourself. We're going to a mom-and-pop place for some nice homemade food." Derlik offered a smile, his fingers still played with Nix's hair.
"Mmkay. Have I ever been there before?" He asked curiously, leaning into Derlik's hand with his tongue sticking out a bit.
"I don't think so," Derlik said. "I don't think I've ever brought you, and I know there's no way Cas would have gone there." He smiled some as he looked at the man- he was just so cute.
"Where is it?" He asked, turning his ears back. "Is it anything like a place I've seen before?"
"It's in a town by my home," Derlik explained. "And I don't know if it is or not. I promise things will be okay, though."
Nix nodded a bit, keeping close to Derlik for comfort. "Okay… let's go, then."
Derlik nodded. In a moment, they were in the town. It was a quiet, small place, surrounded by trees. The god hummed some, carrying Nix. There were people out and about, but other than a glance no one reacted to Nix or Derlik.
Nix glanced around uneasily, moving closer to Derlik. "Mm… where's the food place?" He asked softly.
"It's just this way, we'll be there soon," Derlik assured. He pointed, humming some. "No one can get to you, I promise. We're safe here, this is my town."
"Okay… if you say so…" Nix still seemed a bit nervous, but kept quiet anyway. "What kinda food do they have?"
"Well, they have really good breakfast foods," Derlik explained. "And especially their pancakes."
"I guess I can try pancakes, then. I usually like those, right?"
"Mhm!" Derlik opened the door of the diner, letting himself in and taking a booth. This seemed to be a normal occurrence, a waitress coming over.
"What can I get you sir?" She asked.
Nix cowered a bit when the waitress came over, turning his ears back. He obviously wasn't expecting her to come so quickly, and he couldn't read the menu to know what he wanted. "U-Um…"
Derlik shot a glare at the woman, and she swallowed thickly. The god then turned his attention to Nix, pulling him close and kissing his head.
"We need more time to think," he said calmly, rubbing Nix's back. The waitress nodded, hurrying off.
Nix kept close to Derlik, seeming pretty nervous as he picked up the menu. He glanced over the pictures, but he couldn't read any of the actual words.
"Here are the pancakes," Derlik said softly, pointing to each item as he began to summarize them. "These are plain ones, and these have fruit toppings. This one has some cream cheese between the pancakes, and this one has chocolate syrup."
Nix nodded a bit as he listened, looking at the pancakes. "Um… just normal ones is probably fine…" He replied softly, curling his tail around himself.
