Gabe nodded once. He picked the bag up, looking around. He started to pick up the sizeable sticks he found, smiling some.
Gabe nodded once. He picked the bag up, looking around. He started to pick up the sizeable sticks he found, smiling some.
He started grabbing as big of ones as he could find, lugging them over and piling them up.
Gabe did his best as well, holding a large pile of sticks in his arms by the time he got back, setting them down before turning to look for more.
Alex kept working for a bit, then stopped, taking the longest stick he had and pushing it into a crook in a tree, so that it formed a triangle. The apex of the triangle was about at his chest. Then he started taking other sticks and leaning them against the long one.
Gabe kept gathering sticks for Alex. He stopped for a bit, though, wiping his forehead.
"Need any help here?"
Alex shook his head, still carefully setting the sticks up to form a triangle shaped, small shelter. "No. Uhm…we're going to have to cuddle to fit in this, by the way."
"Okay, then." Gabe offered a smile, unbothered. "I'm good with that- are you?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I just wanted to make sure you were." He started weaving the smaller sticks into the bigger ones to make the sides more solid, to hold in heat.
Gabe nodded, then turned to gather more. When they did finally have enough, the man moved to Alex's side, watching to see if there was anything else he could do.
Alex continued working, eyebrows pulled together in concentration.
Gabe smiled softly. Alex looked so concentrated, he was glad the man knew what to do with this.
"I used to make these all the time." Alex said after a moment. "We lived near the woods when I was a kid."
"Oh?" Gabe looked over, a bit surprised. "Really?"
"Yeah." he nodded his head faintly, shifting to double check that the shelter would hold together.
"Woah… That's pretty cool," Gabe said, looking over with a soft smile.
He smield faintly. "Thanks." he stood up, brushing his hands off on his pants.
Gabe smiled back, leaning over to kiss Alex's cheek.
Alex smiled again, leaning against Gabe.
Gabe wrapped an arm around Alex, hugging him for a second.
Alex closed his eyes contentedly.
Gabe kept smiling, rubbing Alex's back.
"Think the lean-to is enough?"
"For tonight, yeah." he replied softly. "We still need to build a house, though."
"Right. But for now, it's what we have." Gabe looked to the structure, smiling softly. "It's what we own."
He nodded a little.
Gabe let out a soft breath, and a yawn. Coming back to life could be quite draining, it seemed…
Alex smiled a little, and grabbed the bag, taking it and the blanket into the shelter. "Let's go to sleep." he said, peeking out at Gabe.
"Sounds good to me." Gabe smiled, moving to get into the lean-to with Alex.
Alex smiled a little, and spread teh blanket over them.
Gabe snuggled up close to Alex, situating the blanket with a smile.
"I love you…"
Alex smiled back. "Love you too."
