Ember's face turned bright red. "N-no!" He said, a bit loud. "I was an accident, I swear, I didn't mean to… and you weren't coming off as flirtatious, I just messed up on my words and then freaked out, so… I'm sorry about that."

Oyoyo had no clue what was going on, but she was enjoying it! She was laughing so hard, her side ached. “Aspen it seems your flirting with everyone now!”, she joked.

Ember laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "S-still sorry…"

"Yah know it sweetheart," Aspen replied jokingly, secretly loving the routine. He tilted his head back and flicked his apron out dramatically, sending a cloud of flour out across the kitchen. "Combine the eggs, flour, sugar, poppy seeds, coffee beans, sun butter, margerine, milk, and bacon grease and put it in the blender of Pulse, then shape the dough and pop it in the oven on 450 for about 10 minutes."

While Oyoyo and Aspen were busy, Ember backed off slowly toward the door. It would be better for him to leave. He pushed the door open, the bell chiming as he slipped away and made his way down the sidewalk.

Ember fell against the side of the wall of the cafe, sliding down slowly and letting out a sob, putting a hand over his mouth to muffle the noise. Tears rolled down his cheeks and over his hands, and he tried his best to ignore the incoming customers giving him judgmental looks.

Ember felt useless. He was 19, living on the streets, and didn't even have the balls to tell his friends that he was trans. He literally did not have the balls, and that upset him even more.

(it's okay lol, he a strong boi)
He ran his hands through his hair, trying to catch his breath, all of his thoughts crashing down on him. He was useless. His father said so. With his fists. It had happened this morning. He could feel the pain in his ribs every time his lungs expanded.
After a few minutes passed, Ember's sadness turned to anger. Why should he fall apart just because of his father and girlfriend? Why should he be ashamed of his gender? And why should he keep something so important from his friends?
He got up, determined but still shaking, and stormed through the doors of the cafe.

Ember laughed. "Thanks. But I need a hug," he said stubbornly. "Like, just a hug from anybody. I literally haven't been hugged since I came out as trans to my family, and that was four years ago."

"What?? No, you didn't!" He said, hugging Aspen tightly and savoring it. He'd been touch starved for too long. He sighed, pushing away from him gently. "But I have something to tell you guys… and I don't know if you'll look at me the same."
