(that could work)
Smoke stretched languidly, settled in Nik's arms.
Derlik looked back, smiling some. He reached out his hands, petting Smoke with one and the other slipping under him to pick the cat up.
Nik's grip tightened on the kitten when he felt Derlik trying to pull him away, not wanting to relinquish Smoke.
Derlik let out a breath. He shifted both hands around Smoke, one hand by Nik's stomach and the other one on the opposite side of Smoke's body to pull him away.
Smoke mewed faintly, stiffening in their grips. Nik frowned, clinging tightly to Smoke even as the actions started shifting his shirt.
Derlik looked up at Nik, a frown starting to form. He didn't want to hurt Smoke, so instead he focused his attention on getting Nik to loosen his grip.
Nik didn't look at Derlik, just clung to his kitten as best as he could.
(bump?)
(omg I'm so sorry I thought I replied ;o;)
"Nik, you're going to hurt him," Derlik said, fully aware he was the instigator in this situation but pinning it on Nik anyway.
(it's fine! I figured that's what happened)
Nik bit his lip. "You're the one that grabbed him." He replied, though he did let go. He didn't want to hurt Smoke, even if he didn't want Derlik to take him away. However, due to all of Smoke's squirming and all the pulling, his shirt had slid up and for a moment, pale, knotted scars were visible on his stomach. A word. "SLUT", carved deep enough in his skin to never ever go away. And then he was tugging the shirt back down, having realized it was visible.
(Also gtg in like eight minutes)
Derlik had been smirking in his success, but his face and hands froze when he saw the scars on Nik's stomach.
"Who did that..?" He finally asked. His voice had lowered, and he genuinely looked enraged.
Nik flinched, eyes flickering away. He shook his head a little. "Doesn't matter."
Derlik let go of Smoke completely on Nik's lap.
"Who. Did. It."
He flinched. "M-my ex." He whispered, gathering Smoke into his arms again.
Derlik slowly raised his hands to cup Nik's cheeks. He was being so gentle…
"Were does he live?" He asked, forcing his voice to be calm. He'd seen how Nik had reacted.
Nik flinched from Derlik's hands, shaking his head silently. Smoke mewed worriedly.
"Please, Nik," Derlik said, voice gentle now.
He shook his head again, clinging to Smoke.
Derlik narrowed his eyes a bit. He stayed silent, thought, instead turning to Nik's mind to see what he could find there.
Nik's mind was mostly just a haze of memories of a tall, blond man. Of that man grabbing at him, hurting him. Of drugs hitting his system and being unable to move as the blond took a knife and carved into his stomach.
(Gtg to bed soon)

No. No. This was wrong, this was what Derlik hated. He lightly put his hands on Nik's head, trying to lull him to sleep. He didn't want Nik to relive this.
Nik shook his head a little, trying to pull away from Derlik's hands. "Don't…don't touch me." He said, voice shaking a little bit.
Derlik let out a soft breath.
"Please let me help," he said. Still, he took his hands away.
He shook his head again, trembling faintly. He didn't see much of a difference between Derlik and his ex and his father. He really didn't.
Derlik let out a soft breath. He moved away from Nik, giving him a bit of space. He'd find the man who did this.
Honestly, the likelihood of Derlik managing to find the man was, well, slim. Not when he didn't have a name or an address or even a city.
Derlik let out a long breath, putting his head in his hands. He just wanted to deal with this, but nothing was in his favor.
Nik stayed curled up in a little ball, Smoke in his arms.
Finally, Derlik stood. He moved, standing over Nik.
