"Mhmm~…" Rowan kept his eyes closed when he was lifted up onto the horse, keeping the nest close.
"Mhmm~…" Rowan kept his eyes closed when he was lifted up onto the horse, keeping the nest close.
Matthew smiled softly as they started off again, lightly rubbing his thumb up and down Rowan's arm.
Rowan relaxed into Matthew's touch, smiling gently. He sighed contentedly as he huddled even closer.
Matthew started humming softly, just a simple journey song his mother had taught him. He smiled, his grip tightening around Rowan as the other moved closer.
Rowan smiled a bit more brightly when he heard the song, seeming pleased. "Mm… you're the best, Matthew…"
Matthew blushed just a bit at that.
"Thank you for thinking so," Matthew said softly.
"No problem!" Rowan nuzzled against Matthew affectionately and hummed softly to himself.
Matthew smiled, holding Rowan close with a grin.
"You said we might get to the city today, right?" Rowan asked.
"Probably!" Matthew agreed. "It's really really big, with all kinds of buildings."
"Sounds like New York." Rowan laughed softly. "The city is huge."
"Well, from what I've heard you're going to think it's tiny in comparison," Matthew said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, probably." Rowan giggled again, his cheeks flushing lightly. "New York is real big. You'll think it's crazy."
Matthew nodded a bit.
"The city we're coming to it the biggest I've ever seen."
"Well, I'm sure you'll be real surprised by New York, then. Especially since its population is the same as your entire world and New York is tiny."
Matthew blanched a bit.
"T-Tiny? But-!" that seemed to confuse him.
"Well, compared to the rest of the world, anyway." Rowan laughed softly. "New York is one of the smallest states in the United States, and that's only part of one of the continents!"
Matthew's eyes widened when he realized just how big Rowan's world was.
"I… woah…"
"Yeah! There's seven continents in my world. All sorts of different people live in different places. There's about 8 billion people on Earth, I think."
Matthew shook his head a bit.
"I just- woah. I don't think that many people could even fit in this world."
"Probably not. It seems to be smaller than Earth." Rowan glanced around curiously. "I doubt we'll be going anywhere other than my apartment and my mom's."
Matthew nodded with a sigh of relief.
"I don't think I could handle much more than that."
Rowan laughed softly. "I doubt it. I'll have to show you a map sometime. Do y'all have electricity? I'll have to charge my phone at some point."
"I think there is in the city," Matthew said, "But I'm not sure it'll be the same as yours…"
Rowan nodded a bit. "I'll have to check… you see, my phone has a battery in it, and it drains as I use it, so I need to recharge it when it gets low."
Matthew thought a moment.
"Oh! That sounds like magic. Some people buy things to hold it when they don't have much of their own, and have to refill it."
"Mm… well, it's not magic." Rowan laughed. "It's just electricity. The charger can put more of it into our phones when we plug it into a charging port."
"Okay then!" It sounded like magic to Matthew, but he didn't push his point.
"Uhm… there's people who can concentrate it or make it somehow… there's a lot of it. I dunno exactly how it works since I'm not an electrician. Lightning is also electricity, but we don't use that for our phones. They'd fry."
"Oh..! I know some people who can control lightning. Does that mean they could do things with your phone too?" Matthew tilted his head a bit.
