"Him? All he wanted to do was fuck and watch movies. Basically. Oh he'd go out, but only if I promised some form of pleasure afterwards. Normal men are gross." She shrugged and sat down in the booth, and scootched in. "I'll get him eventually. Tonight just, wasn't the night. Oh well. I'd rather spend my night with you instead of worrying about him anyways." She then completely turned off her phone and set it on the table, then put her face in the palm of one of her hand, the other opening up the menu lazily and looking through it, having let go of him once she sat down.
Connor sat down on the opposite side of the table, looking through the menu with somewhat tired eyes. Now that he thought about it, he hadn’t had his evening coffee or energy drink yet. That was a mistake on his part. Whatever, it wasn’t like he was going to need it anyways.
“What would you like to eat?” He asked, taking off his mask and pursing his lips together once.
"I'm getting biscuits and gravy, with a tall glass of raspberry iced tea. It's sooo good here. Oh and there's coffee and stuff here." She commented,noticing his tired expression. "I'd get ribs, which are amazing here,but maybe if I was wearing a different shirt,and you weren't here. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself or get any on you… speaking of getting stuff on you. Dark red lipstick really brings out your eyes." She said with a giggle,commenting on the kiss from earlier.
Connor eyed her for a moment at the last comment before he realized what she was referring to and ended up smiling instead. He looked back up at her.
“I don’t mind getting more lipstick on me after this meal…” he spoke softly as he went through the menu.
“I think I’ll get the ribs myself. Of course, I don’t mind a few stains here and there.” He mentioned with the widest and warmest smile he’s given all day long.
She blushed heavily, and turned away, responding as she stared out the window. She did this to distract herself from the fire spreading along her cheeks once more, hoping that if she did so, it would stop. "Good choice." Was all she could respond with, and even then her voice cracked at the word 'choice' out of embarrassment. She internally hated being embarrassed, but love making other people flustered. Soon she turned her mind to mentally planning out how to get revenge.

He noticed how she was getting flustered just by his words. Guess he had something else that he was good at other than murdering people. Well, she couldn’t really blame him. He did want to get revenge on her tearing his plan down to shreds earlier in the day. His mind wandered somewhere he did not dare think yet which caused his cheeks to turn red as well. No no no, he wasn’t going to give in to his desires for he knew that they were there just because he was with a woman he had an interest in… well, maybe that was enough of a reason…
She puffed out her cheeks and continued her glowering, when Lucy came over. "Hey there sugar cube." She tapped Evelyn's shoulder, making her jump. "You alright?" Evelyn huffed. "He won't stop embarrassing me." "Oh well then you're fine. What would ya like to drink?" "I'll take a raspberry iced tea." Lucy then looked over at Conner. "And you, what would ya like?"
Connor looked over to Lucy with a smile and a nod.
“I’ll have lemon tea if that’s available,” he answered. His eyed then shifted back to Evelyn.
“Low sugar, if that’s alright. I think I already have enough levels of sweetness from this person across from me,” he spoke with a very wide grin with closed eyes.
“Right?”
"Conner if you don't hush up, I'll stab you with the steak knife they give you with the ribs." She said, all angry and riled up. Lucy reached over and flicked Evelyn on the forehead. "Now you stop that. He's being sweeter than honey. And honey attracts flies faster than vinegar." "Exactly Lucy. He's not a fly. He's a sly cat. And those types like a challenge. Something they have to chase. Only giving him what he likes." The old lady shook her head. "Lighten up a bit, cornflower. Are you two ready to eat as well?" "One. No Lucy. I've never lightened up. If he can't handle me he can go. I don't care. Broken hearted or not I'll carry on. And two, yes I am. I'll have the biscuits and gravy and he'll have the ribs." Lucy nodded, and wrote down the whole order. "They'll be here in a jiffy, just sit tight. And be nice." She then walked off and Evelyn sat there, kicking her legs back and forth a bit boredly, still simmering over all the sweet words he just said.
Connor just smirked softly as he turned away from Evelyn.
“Sorry, I just saw the opportunity to say that,” he spoke softly, exhaling as he returned to his natural state of being poker faced and cold. His hands rested on the table as he sighed. He was now thinking of his route home after this if Evelyn didn’t allow him to go back to hers. Well, to say that his way home was difficult would be an understatement. He had to take late evening train if he wanted to get home before midnight. That thought scared him slightly mostly because he knew how fucked up that train can be at times. He didn’t exactly dwell on that subject for long though as he turned back to Evelyn.
“Are you going home right after this?” He asked.
"Yeah. You can stay the night if you like. I…I really hate spending my nights alone." Her face had fallen as a few sad thoughts crossed her mind. She shook her head, as if to get them out of her mind like a dog gets rid of water after a bath. She placed on a fake smile this time. "Thank you though for your sweetness. You're one of the nicest, and meanest, and most complex individuals I think I've ever met." She looked up, her face growing more sincere as she reached over and took one of his hands in both of hers. "And. I love that. People are so easy to read but you. I have no idea how to read and interpret. You're a mystery novel, with so many twists and turns I might as well be a spinning top." She grinned, now, a giddy smile.
Connor looked at her as she took his hand. He smiled gently at it, only to have his smile be blocked by the dim lighting of the decor.
“You say that but you’re not so different yourself,” he spoke out with a soft laughter at the end, indicating the sincerity of what he just said. Well, Evelyn was indeed different from all others he have met. She was a fun individual, was a soul full of energy, was a woman of determined will. These traits attracted him to her somewhat and although he couldn’t quite understand why these features made him feel things the way he did, he didn’t bother questioning it.
“Also… thank you. I suppose I’ll stay the night tonight and if you want me gone, I’ll be out by the morning…” he spoke as if he was afraid she wouldn’t want to see him again. The sociopath wasn’t scared of his own guilt, he was scared of being discarded…
"No no please stay! I'll make pancakes! I have nothing planned this week. Next week I'll be busy but all this week, I'm just lazying around and seeing where life takes me." She grinned with a giddy smile. "Stay as long as you'd like honey." She smiled, knowing he definitely deserved some love back.
Connor nodded to her words, humming softly in his throat.
“I have a job to do tomorrow. But it’s just a businessman, it’s fine. Poison would do if anything,” he mentioned, his other hand finally coming to cover her hand, smiling at the sensation of her hand.
“I… I didn’t know until today how great a girl’s hand feel… not in a weird way though I just—“ he started speaking the things which came into his mind. Well, that was something he couldn’t care less right now.
She blushed and giggled a bit. "No I get what you mean. Mine are music hands. Long and nimble,but rough at the fingertips from playing guitar as much as I do." She leaned down and kissed the back of his hand. "I'll be home all day so come and go tomorrow as you please. I'll probably just be doing little chores and busy work. Oh and you have to meet my cat you'll just love her."
Connor nodded softly to her words… but more at her actions.
“I-I see… “ his skin furled slightly at her kiss, honestly not expecting it. Her lips felt nice… a warm and soft touch on his skin.
“Hmm…” he started down at his hand that she just kissed, a sweet and gentle smile curling on his lips out of the jolt of warmth he felt.
"Awww. You're cute when you smile like that." She then leaned over and kissed his cheek. There was now a lipstick imprint on his has hands and cheek. "Hmmmm… Mine." She grinned at that and decided she didn't like the unevenness,so she kissed his other one.
Connor’s face perked up and warmed up significantly when she kissed his cheeks. He looked at her with his eyes seemingly sparkling as his right reached up to his cheek, gently touching it. His mouth opened up slightly as he grinned before he closed his eyes and letting out a soft breath.
“What… what spell did you even put on me to make me feel like this…?” He opened his eyes to ask.
"Love's a whole magik all on it's own Conner. If it's done right anyways. Just, don't go falling too hard. It'll hurt less when you finally leave out of disappointment." She shrugged, as Lucy came over with the drinks and set them down. "Food will be out in a minute! Ribs are taking a little longer because we ran outta sauce. Had to make more. I'll be back in a minute love birds!" And with that the oblivious Lucy walked off to go check in on some tables, humming to herself as Evelyn's eyes returned to Connors',now a bit downfallen,face.
Connor nodded to Lucy when she walked over. He was surprised that she didn’t notice the lipstick stains on his cheeks but… I guess she just didn’t pay attention. Which was, ultimately, fine by him. He looked back over to Evelyn and noticed her change in expression.
“What’s with the small frown, tough girl?” He spoke softly, reaching his hands up to her cheeks and pushing them up softly so that her lips curled up like she was smiling.
“‘Leaving out of disappointment’? Don’t be silly…” his right hand moved up to her forehead as he flicked softly with a grin. “…I don’t plan on leaving any time soon. W-Well, unless you don’t want me around I guess…?”
(No comment on her sad boi hours comment about him leaving? smh.)

She broke out in a huge belly laugh, the kind that rolls down hills and then shoots up into the sun, at him squishing her cheeks, it completely caught her off guard. When she was finished laughing and caught her breath, wiping tears out of her eyes, she got up and sat down in the same booth next to Conner. A tone of desperation arose in her voice as she spoke her next words. "No please stay. I…I really like you. In fact, I may just love you." While she talked, her voice got quieter and quieter until the very end was just above a mouses whisper, her eyes darting away as her face yet again turned it's cherry hues. She hated how easily she blushed. Her eyes were looking around the diner, and basically anywhere except at him.
Connor turned to her when she came to sit next to him. He tried his best to hide his overwhelming emotions. When she finished and he noticed that her eyes shifted around nervously, he breathed out softly.
“Evelyn… look at me…” he let out soft, keeping his eyes on her at all times while he waited for her to perhaps do as he’d asked.
She didn't do so at first, her playful and rather independent nature fighting her on it. Her broken heart told her not too, because she couldn't handle falling in love again and then breaking like that after. She couldn't take the hurt. But feeling his kind and worried eyes on her, and slowly her hands slid into his once more, holding them tight. She began to play with his fingers nervously, as slowly her head turned towards him. Still her eyes stayed downcast at her lap, a little too caught up in the moment too dare to face him quite yet.
Connor smiled weakly at her for a moment before he took his hands out of hers. He then leaned down and wrapped his arms around her, embracing her in the fragile body that was himself. He didn’t say a word, he just patted her back as if trying to communicate to her… It’s fine. He stayed there as if waiting for her to react.
She jolted a bit and nuzzled into him. This however, did not help Evelyn's embarrassment but only made it worse as the butterflies in her stomach flew up and began beating on the drum of her heart, skipping beats and flying around. He had embarrassed her into a silence. There was teasing thoughts that tumbled through her mind but she could not bring herself to say them. Only a small squeak escaped her throat every now and then as she tried to calm down, but to no avail. Her spiky nature was tempted to return and wrestle herself free from the hug, but she actually really needed it. So her arms came free from being folded in her lap and pulled him closer, pressing her face into the crook of his neck. The only word she could manage to whisper was a soft. "Thank you."
