Rowan gently rubbed the chicks' heads. "Don't fight him, Tammy… he just wants to cuddle. Calm yourself." He rested his head against Matthew's.
Rowan gently rubbed the chicks' heads. "Don't fight him, Tammy… he just wants to cuddle. Calm yourself." He rested his head against Matthew's.
Tammy huffed a bit, leaning into the petting. Tommy yawned again, and Tammy gave in, laying down with her brother and letting out another huff. Matthew chuckled gently, leaning into Rowan a moment.
Rowan kept one hand down by Tammy and Tommy so that they could cuddle up with it if they wanted. "When should we feed them next?"
"Well, once they get bigger in a day or two we could start them on more than just the bugs. Crumbs would be good." Tommy huddled up against Rowan's hand, bringing Tammy with him and sandwiching himself between the two.
Rowan nodded a bit. "Yeah, probably… but when's the next time that we should feed them today?" He asked. Just… when they seem to be hungry, or…?"
"Trust me, they'll let us know." Matthew chuckled a bit. "They eat every hour or so when they're awake."
"Alright, if you're sure… I don't want my babies to get hungry." Rowan smiled gently again and huddled a bit closer to Matthew.
Matthew nodded, tucking Rowan and the nest in his arms securely.
"I'm sure. They're just like avian babies like that." He smiled.
Rowan nodded a bit. "Do they get more feathers when they get older or do they just kinda stay like this?" He asked.
"They'll get their flight feathers, but other than that, no." Matthew hummed a bit. Timmy slowly stuck his head out from Rowan's pocket, looking up at them.
Rowan nodded again and gently pet Timmy's head. "Alright… what kinda little clothes are you gonna make for them?" He asked curiously.
"I'm best at making robes. Plus, it'll be better for them when they're flying." Timmy leaves into the pettings, close to falling out.
"Mm, true… careful, Timmy. You're too little to fall out." Rowan moved his hand back a bit to keep the chick closer to himself.
Timmy nuzzled Rowan's have, latching onto it after a bit.
"What colors do you think would look cute in them?" Matthew asked.
"Mmm… maybe some cool colors?" Rowan suggested. "Blue, green, and purple respectively?"
"Sounds pretty to me!" Matthew smiled, resting his head against Rowan's again. "They'll look adorable. I'll get started on then as soon as I get my hands on some dyes!"
"Alright! Sounds good!" Rowan smiled brightly back up at Matthew and huddled a little closer, keeping a firm hold on the bird nest.
Matthew grinned, arms secure around Rowan and tightening a bit. Tammy managed to get Tommy off of herself, finally, after the chick fell asleep. She came out to the entrance of the nest, trying to get out.
"Nah ah, you gotta stay in for now, baby." Rowan gently nudged Tammy back into the nest and kept his hand down by her.
Tammy huffed a bit, leaning into Rowan's hand but sulking a bit. She wanted to go out and about, and explore this strange new world.
"Not yet." Rowan soothed, gently rubbing the chick's head with his thumb. "You can look around a bit the next time we stop."
Tammy begrudgingly leaned into Rowan's rubbing, letting out a soft coo. It felt good.
"See? Isn't that nice? Now, settle down… we're gonna take care of you." Rowan smiled gently.
Tammy settled down completely in Rowan's hand. Tommy woke up slightly, just enough to go cuddle with his sister. Matthew smiled gently.
"You're doing really good with them," Matthew offered sweetly.
"Thanks, Matthew… gotta keep them in line, you know?" Rowan smiled down at the chicks and hummed softly to himself.
Matthew nodded a bit.
"Yes, or course. And you're gentle while doing it." Matthew smiled again.
"You make a great dad."
"Aww, thanks~" Rowan nuzzled against Matthew with a bright smile on his face. "I'm glad they listen to me."
"They've been very good, yes." Matthew smiled, leaning into the nuzzling. "You're raising them right. Most make mistakes, but you really haven't."
Rowan smiled a bit brighter up at Matthew. "Thanks! I'm glad you think so! I really don't wanna raise brats. I want them to trust me."
Matthew grinned back.
"You're welcome! And how could you ever raise brats? Besides, if you need any help I'm sure your mother will love to help too. She obviously did an amazing job."
