Nik was quiet, watching the scene unfold. Smoke kept purring.

Derlik let out a soft breath, turning away. He continued, targeting the children who were too shy to go play.
Nik ran his hands through his hair, biting his lip faintly.
Eventually, Derlik stopped. He sat down on the back of a park bench, watching the children around then play a moment.
"What do you think?" He finally said, looking to Nik.
Nik shrugged a little. "I…I don't know." He said slowly. "It's…"
Derlik tilted his head a bit, listening closer. He really did want to know.
Nik shrugged a little. "I don't know."
Derlik sighed a bit.
"I should've guessed," he said. He stood on the bench, stepping off and over to Nik.
Nik looked up at him, biting his lip faintly.
Derlik let out a breath.
"Shall we go to the next place?" He asked, offering his hand.
Nik shrugged a little. "Sure."
Derlik took Nik's hand, nodding. In a moment, they had warped to the next place- a birthday party.
Nik blinked, biting his lip a little and looking uncomfortable.
Derlik glanced at Nik.
"You good? Or should we go somewhere else?"
"I'm fine." He replied with a shrug, looking down at his feet and wondering why Derlik was actually…being nice today. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Derlik lightly placed one hand on Nik's shoulder, bending over a bit to look at him in concern.
Nik looked up at him, stepping back a little.
Derlik retracted his hand.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked again gently.
He nodded a little. "Yeah." He said quietly.
Derlik sighed gently.
"Alright then, I won't push you."
He looked around quietly.
Derik started going around, encouraging children to go and run around, to have fun. He smiled gently.
Nik stayed where he was, quiet.
Derlik came back, still smiling a bit.
"How are you doing?" he asked again
Nik shrugged. "Fine, I suppose."
Derlik sighed gently.
"My work here is done. Shall we move on?" he offered his hand to Nik, hoping Nik would take it himself this time.
Nik shrugged again, cautiously taking Derlik's hand. "Sure."
Derlik nodded. In a moment, they were at their next stop. A school gym.
Nik was quiet, letting go once they had arrived.
Derlik hummed faintly. Not many students were participating, and he sighed.
"Kids these days…"
