Nik ate quietly, not really looking at anything but the table. Smoke nibbled at the food, looking around curiously.

The restaurant was homey, with pale yellow want and warm chestnut furnishings. There was a blackboard with a list of specials. There weren't many other people eating there at this time of day. Derlik glanced up at Nik a moment. Honestly, he'd love to find something that could make the mortal happy, even for a bit.
(not gonna be too active this weekend)
Nik closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them and kept eating.
(ah, okay! Thanks for letting me know!)
Derlik finished eating rather quickly, sitting back with his coffee.
(np!)
Nik kept eating, not looking at Derlik.
Derlik sighed gently.
He finished up his food, pushing his plate aside with a faint sigh.
Derlik smiled just faintly.
"Did you like it?"
He nodded a little. "Yeah. Uhm…thanks."
"You're welcome." Derlik smiled sweetly.
Nik looked down at the table, closing his eyes for a moment.
Derlik looked down at Smoke a moment.
"How are you doing?"
Smoke shrugged. "Full." He burped softly, then covered his mouth, blushing. "Oops. Sorry."
Derlik chucked a bit, patting Smoke's head and picking him up when he was done.
Smoke purred quietly, leaning into Derlik's hand.
Derlik smiled, leaving the money when the waitress came with the bill.
"Shall we get going?" He asked, still rubbing Smoke gently.
Smoke purred, leaning into him. Nik shrugged faintly.
Derlik stood. He offered his hand to Nik to help him out of the booth.
Nik didn't take the offered hand, standing on hs own.
Derlik let out a soft sigh. He set Smoke in his pocket again.
"I do have things to do today," Derlik said, starting out of the restaurant.
Nik nodded a little, unsure where this was leading.
"I'm thinking we won't go to the same kinds of places as yesterday," Derlik continued.
He nodded again, looking around a little. Smoke shifted to stand in Derlik's pocket, holding onto the edge.
Derlik rubbed Smoke's head a bit. He offered his hand to Nik.
"You'll see that my work isn't all what it was yesterday."
Nik glanced at him, shrugging wordlessly.
Derlik took Nik's hand now, not waiting for him to take it. They shifted a bit, just like the day before, bringing them to… A playground?
"They can't see us," Derlik promised, knowing how parents reacted to seeing men like Derlik.
Nik nodded a little, looking around the park silently. Smoke was still in Derlik's pocket, watching curiously.
Derlik reached up, rubbing Smoke's head lightly. He watched the children a moment, then reached out, lightly placing his hand on one boy's head.
"Run," he said softly, with a smile.
Smoke watched, purring softly as he was petted by Derlik.
The boy, who'd been hiding with his mother, pulled away a bit. Soon, he was running around, starting a game of tag with the other kids. Derlik smiled softly as he watched, glancing at Nik as he rubbed Smoke's cheek.
