“If… if I need to, I can talk to you, right?” Melissa asked softly, just wanting the reassurance.
“If… if I need to, I can talk to you, right?” Melissa asked softly, just wanting the reassurance.
"Of course you can, Mel. You know you can always come to me to talk about anything that you want to."
"Right," Melissa nodded some, sighing softly. "You can too, you know. Tell me whatever you need to get off your chest, I mean."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Thanks, Mel… I'm… I'm alright for now. You're my priority at the moment."
"Are you sure?" Melissa asked softly, giving him a worried look. "Because you didn't sound so sure…"
"I'm sure, Mel. I'm perfectly fine right now." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and held her close.
"Alright…" Melissa sighed softly, leaning up against him. "I'm fine too, so you really don't have to worry about me."
"But you don't seem fine…" Lucas sighed softly. And I've got meds for my own shit… she doesn't.
"I'm as fine as I'm gonna be." Melissa mumbled while she was nosing against his cheek. "You don't have to worry about me."
Lucas sighed again and nodded, holding Melissa closer to himself.
Melissa huddled up against him for warmth, yawning softly. "Mm… we should probably head back soon, huh?"
"Probably, yeah… it's getting pretty cold." Lucas glanced around, his breath clouding in the cold air.
"Mmm, just a little." Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek. "Do you think Cody is ready to head back?"
"Mhmm…" Lucas whistled for Cody and reattached the leash to his collar before getting up. "Let's head out."
Melissa sighed softly, getting up from his lap. "Mm, what should we do when we get home?"
"Whatever you wanna do, Mel." Lucas took Melissa's hand and started leading her through the forest.
"Mmm, but I'm bad at making decisions…" Melissa huffed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Well, I'm not exactly great at it either." Lucas laughed softly.
“Mm, true…” Melissa mumbled, sighing softly. “I’m sure we’ll find something.”
"Mhmm…" Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek and brought her out of the forest. "We should be back home soon."
"Right…" Melissa nodded some, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I love you…"
"Love you too, Mel." Lucas smiled gently as he walked. "You feeling okay?"
"I guess…" Melissa shrugged, burying her face in his shoulder with a weak sigh.
"Any way I can make you feel any better?" He asked.
"Not that I can think of." Melissa sighed softly, looking up at him. "It's just going to be one of those days, Lu. There's nothing you can do."
"But I wanna be able to do something, Mel… I don't like being helpless, especially when it comes to you."
"Well I don't know what to tell you to do." Melissa replied softly, pulling him to a stop on the sidewalk. "I love you, and am grateful you want to help me, but I really don't know what to ask you to do. There's not much you could do, in a situation like this."
Lucas sighed and pulled Melissa into a tight hug. "You'll tell me if there's anything I can do to help, right?"
Melissa nodded, burying her face in his shoulder. “Yeah, I’ll tell you.” She whispered, holding onto him tightly.
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas nuzzled into Melissa's hair with his eyes closed, trying his best to comfort her.
