@Fraust
"G'morning…" Nix purred as he nuzzled up against the other. "How'd you sleep?" He asked tiredly.
"G'morning…" Nix purred as he nuzzled up against the other. "How'd you sleep?" He asked tiredly.
"I slept well," Derlik said. He stretched a bit, arms going right back around Nix.
"How did you?"
"Pretty okay…" Nix flicked his tail a bit and held tighter to Derlik. "Mmm… we should probably eat."
Derlik nodded a bit.
"Want me to make something for us?" Derlik smiled softly, scratching Nix's back a bit.
"Sure." Nix yawned and arched his back against Derlik's touch. "Mmmm~…"
Derlik smiled. He sat up, holding Nix in his lap a moment and continued to scratch his back.
"I'll think of something I can make."
"Okay!" Nix chirped, clearly enjoying the petting. "I eat pretty much everything, so you shouldn't have to worry about that."
Standing, Derlik held Nix close. He liked seeing how much Nix enjoyed this, so he continued as he left the room, smiling.
"What're you gonna make?" Nix asked curiously, resting his head on Derlik's shoulder as the other walked.
Derlik thought a moment, tilting his head.
"Well, I was thinking an omelet would be easy to make."
"Sounds good to me." Nix yawned as he nuzzled against Derlik, still purring.
Derlik hummed a bit, going into the kitchen. He started pulling out ingredients, smiling as he held Nix in one arm.
Nix watched the process curiously. He didn't know how to cook himself, but he'd always enjoyed watching.
Derlik cut up some peppers and onions, putting them on a skillet to cook for a bit as he diced some mushrooms. He prepared the eggs, combining the mushrooms and cooked peppers and onions in a bowl, putting them into the eggs before pouring them back into the skillet.
Nix watched everything Derlik was doing with great interest, his tail flicking from side to side. "What's all that?" He asked, pointing to the things Derlik had put into the omelette.
"Well," Derlik said, "These are onions, and the green things are peppers. These brownish things are mushrooms. They make the omelet healthier, and they taste good too.."
Nix nodded a bit and rested his head on Derlik's shoulders. "Cas never added any of those to his."
"Ah, I see. Well, I hoep you like it!" Derlik hummed a bit, smiling as he flipped the omelet.
Nix smiled softly. "I'm sure I will… Cas probably just couldn't afford the extra stuff."
Derlik nodded again.
"He couldn't afford much, could he?" He asked, a genuine question.
Nix shook his head. "No, not really. He spent most of the money he got on food for me, to be honest. I wish he'd have taken care of himself better…"
"Ah…" Derlik shook his head some.
"Still, I'm glad he was good to you as he was."
Nix nodded a bit. "Yeah… I'm glad I was able to keep him alive at least…" He sighed.
Derlik hummed, nodding in turn.
"I'm sure you were good to him," he said with a soft, assuring smile. He took the omelet off the stove, cutting it in half and putting it on two plates for them.
"I tried my best… he was in a really bad place. Almost killed himself more than once." Nix sighed. "I had to get real good at comforting him."
Derlik carried the food and Nix out to the couch, sitting down with the cat in his lap.
"I see…" Derlik was quiet a moment.
"Mm…" Nix started eating his omelette with a contented hum. "He hung out around other cats sometimes. That's okay, though."
Derlik started eating as well, thinking.
"You really care about him," he said, smiling softly.
Nix nodded a bit. "Well, I was his service animal. It was kinda my job to care about him. Not that I wouldn't have anyway."
"Right, of course." Derlik set down his empty plate, letting out a soft breath.
