"Still, you did a good job. Even if it's your job, you should still get praised when you do well." Derlik smiled softly.
"Here," he said, offering the soul orb. "You did such a good job, I figured you could use a new toy."
Smoke frowned a little, taking the orb carefully in his hands. "But…what is it?" He asked, looking up at Derlik.
"It's a..," Derlik trailed off a moment. "Fancy ball. What do you think of it?"
(hey, so I've got a small group RP going that's Classic Lit in Space, would you be interested in joining? We need another person or two)
Smoke squinted, turning it in his fingers and peeking up at Derlik again.
(ooooo, sounds interesting!)
"What do you think?" Derlik asked.
(shall I tag you in it?)
He shrugged a little. "I don't know. What is it?" he asked again.
(yes please! I'd like to check it out!)
"Are you sure you want to know?" Derlik asked finally.
(alright! No pressure to join if you don't want to, by the way)
He nodded a little bit. "Mhm."
Derlik sighed softly.
"It's a soul," he explained.
He blinked, suddenly holding the orb far more carefully. His ears flattened a little, and he stared up at Derlik. "A soul?"
Derlik nodded.
"It's not fragile. Besides, it's the man who hurt Nik." He sighed a bit.
"Oh." he said quietly, unsure what to do about that.
"You can do whatever you want with it," Derlik said. "Anything at all."
"But…" he frowned a little.
"What's wrong?" Derlik asked gently.
"I don't know." he said slwoly. "It's just…I do't know."
Derlik let out a soft sigh.
"Okay then. Still, it's yours."
He nodded faintly, looking down at the orb. "Are you going to be nice to Nik now?" he asked after a moment, peeking up at Derlik with worried eyes.
"I have been," Derlik said gently. He reached up, cupping Smoke's head in his hands. "I'm going to keep being nice to him, I promise."
Smoke still looked worried. "You aren't going to hurt him again?" He asked, looking up at Derlik.
"I'm not going to hurt him again," Derlik promised gently.
Smoke still looked a little worried, looking up at Derlik with those golden eyes of his.
Derlik gently patted Smoke's head.
"He's going to be okay, Smoke. I'm not going to hurt him, and I won't let anyone else either."
Smoke nodded a little bit. "Promise?" He asked softly. "Enough people hurt him already, he doesn't need someone else to."
"I promise." Derlik patted Smoke's head again lightly, moving him and the soul off his lap.
He moved away, sitting down on the boulder.
Derlik hummed faintly, poking the soul in Smoke's hands.
"What will you end up doing with it?" He asked.
Smoke looked up at him for a moment. "Uhm…I don't know." he replied, shrugging.
"Okay. I still think it'd make a good toy." Derlik patted Smoke's head lightly.
Smoke shrugged again, looking down at the soul.
