"Mmm, no." Melissa hummed, pulling back just a little. She gave him a bright smile in return, taking his hand and slowly started to lead him on. "I put it away, so I wouldn't be tempted to."
"Mmm, no." Melissa hummed, pulling back just a little. She gave him a bright smile in return, taking his hand and slowly started to lead him on. "I put it away, so I wouldn't be tempted to."
"Great! We can open it together on your birthday." Lucas kissed Melissa again and followed her out of the building. He blinked in the sunlight, shielding his eyes with one hand.
Melissa glanced up at him, trying to keep from laughing some. "Here, take my sunglasses." She hummed, pulling them off the top of her head, and offering them to him.
"Thanks, Mel. I feel like a hermit crawling out of his hidey hole." Lucas laughed softly and put on the sunglasses.
"Mm, if you spent much longer in there, you might look like one." Melissa hummed, pecking his cheek. "Luckily, you still look like Lucas Mullbright. Not some hermit."
"Thank God. I'm paler than I used to be, though." Lucas smiled weakly as he returned the kiss. "Let's head home, yeah?"
"Mhmm," Melissa smiled softly, eagerly leading him over to the car. "I would have walked, but it was about half an hour away. Dad wouldn't let me."
"The car sounds fine to me, Mel." Lucas got into the car with Melissa and Cody. "Good afternoon, sir."
Mr. Brennahan looked back at Lucas, smiling. "Hey there, Lucas. How are you?" He asked as Melissa shut the front door, and climbed in the back with Lucas.
"Pretty good! How are you?" Lucas asked, smiling softly as he pulled Cody into his lap.
"I'm alright. I've been busy, but alright none the less." Mr. Brennahan hummed, starting the car up when they were both settled in. "I'm glad to hear you've been good."
"Mhmm! I've still gotta go to various kinds of therapy, but they're not locking me up anymore."
"I was informed about that. I'll have to make sure to put the dates on my calendar, so I can drive you." Mr. Brennahan hummed, still smiling softly. While the two talked, Melissa curled up, head resting on Lucas's shoulder.
"Thank you, sir." Lucas smiled gently. "My hand is working better now, but it still needs a whole longer to be back to where it was before…"
"That doesn't really surprise me. I mean, you really did a lot of damage." Mr. Brennahan nodded a little. "But that's why you're still going to therapy. After a little bit of work, you should be getting back to normal."
"Hopefully… I'd like to be able to play baseball again." Lucas laughed weakly. "I've been missing it."
"I'm sure you will. If not by the end of this year, I'm sure you'll be able to play next year." Mr. Brennahan smiled still, glancing back at the two.
"Hopefully, yeah. I need to be able to play my senior year, at least… do you think they'll still let me be captain?"
"I'm sure they will. I'd suggest talking to your coach, telling him what was going on." Mr. Brennahan hummed a little. "Let him know that you shouldn't have problems next year. At least, not as many."
"Yeah, hopefully not… especially with me being on meds and such, I should be okay to be doing normal things."
Mr. Brennahan nodded, taking a moment before responding. "I'm sure you'll be a lot better by then. I don't see any reason things should suddenly start to get more complicated."
Lucas nodded a bit and held Cody closer. "I think I might be able to get back in before school ends…"
"I would hope so. As long as you're not neglecting any special exercises you're given." Mr. Brennahan hummed, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel, to the soft beat of the radio.
"I haven't been, believe me." Lucas laughed weakly. "I'd like to get back to normal as soon as I possibly can."
Mr. Brennahan chuckled, nodding just a little. "I bet." He hummed, stopping the car at a red light. "Are you glad you went?"
"Uhm… y-yeah, I think so." He sighed. "It was really hard at first, but I think that it really helped… they wouldn't have released me otherwise."
"That's true. You seem pretty happy- though that might just be because you got to leave." Mr. Brennahan shrugged, looking back at them. "I know that's not the only reason you went, but you definitely look happier."
"The meds are helping, yeah. Part of the reason I wound up here was because I was on the wrong meds, but I'm on the right ones now."
"That's good. I wish I had known that sooner… maybe this wouldn't have happened if we had figured that out." Mr. Brennahan sighed softly, starting to drive on again. "We're almost home, by the way."
"Yeah… the past is in the past, though." Lucas smiled weakly. "I should've told you that they weren't the right ones."
