“Woah..” He exclaimed softly. He definitely appreciated that it was somewhat away from everyone else. He slowly began to calm down, getting used to being in a new place. It would be weird not having to move around from place to place though.
Mike led them inside, across the small bridge and into the hut. It seemed the camp had done well for themselves over the years, it was like a full functioning small town at this point. The hut was nice, a small kitchen, bathroom and living room. It only had one bedroom though, probably because most of the camp had assumed that the two in the prophecy were going to be together already.
Aidan of course noticed and immediately some part of him shut down instinctively. But it wouldn’t show. It was just something he’d have to deal with for now. He kind of stayed quiet as they walked, waiting to see if Mike had anything else to tell them.
"There's food here if you want something to eat," The older male said, "I'll be back in a bit to help introduce you to some people and discuss what we're actually planning here."
“Okay, and thank you again, for everything.” He said sincerely, finally letting go of Lachy’s hand. His mind was telling him it was wrong, that it just didn’t feel right, despite the fact that he’d been completely comfortable with it just a few minutes beforehand.
((Ah yes we love internalized homophobia))
(Ooof the baby :( )
Mike nodded, smiling at the two of them before he left. Lachy didn't mention Aidan letting go of his hand, even if he felt slightly disappointed that he had. He sat down on the couch, glad for the cushion and not the hard rock floor.
((He needs positive influences in his life I stg ;-;))
Aidan sat down in one of the chairs in the room. “Well this is much better than a cave huh?” He asked with a small smile, trying to pretend like nothing happened and that he was completely fine.
Lachy nodded, puling his knees to his chest as he glanced at the floor. There was a hint of a smile, though nothing major, "For sure. It'll actually be warm in here at night."
“Yeah that’ll be a very nice change.” He remarked before falling quiet. ‘Dammit why do things feel so awkward??’ He picked at his nails, trying to get the gunk out from under them.
He didn't know why it suddenly became so awkward. Why Aidan was suddenly being so distant. Probably because of the bed, he realised after a moment, "I-" He started, pausing before continuing, "I can um, take the couch tonight.. I'm smaller so.."
“No it’s okay I’ll take the couch. I’m the one being weird about it anyway so it’s fine.” He said, not really meeting Lachy’s eyes.
"No, Aidan. Besides, as the one who's supposed to save all of the people like us you need the bed more then I do." Lachy wasn't going to budge on the subject, not anytime soon.
“Well that’s a load of bull. Come on, please? Why can’t you just sleep in there and I’ll sleep out here?”
"Because I said so. Because you matter more then me in this whole prophecy thing therefor, me sleeping on the couch is more ideal."
“You know we’re both stubborn as hell and neither of us are going to win, right?” He pointed out.
"Well I'm not moving from the couch anytime soon so unless you want a sore neck sleeping upright tonight I suggest you take the fucking bed." He replied, crossing his arms.
He crossed his arms as well, making no move to get out of the chair. Yeah…neither of them were giving up on this argument anytime soon. How they were supposed to save the world together when they acted like this, Aidan had no idea.
Lachy frowned, lying down on the couch and rolling over, back to Aidan. The world was going to shit, and if the two of them couldn't get their act together then there was no hope in this world anymore.
He did the same, looking anywhere but at Lachy. Aidan would keep this up for at most 10 minutes before he cracked. “Ugh fine I’ll take the stupid bed if you’ll stop being mad at me!”
Lachy turned his head a little, enough so that he could look at Aidan. His look was unreadable as he spoke, "You will? You'll honestly take the bed?"
“I just don’t wasn’t you to be mad, that’s literally the only reason.” He said, barely meeting Lachy’s eyes.
Lachy rolled all the way over, raising a brow as he hugged a pillow to his chest, "Mhm, really? That's the only reason?" Aidan was just so… so confusing sometimes.
“Yeah…I don’t like when people are mad at me. Especially you..” He mumbled, looking down at his feet. “What other reason would there be for me to give in?”
"I dunno. Whatever would fulfill the whole asshole complex you having going on sometimes. Whatever would let you continue to be stubborn." One minute he was cold and distant and yes, an asshole and the next he was kind and caring. Lachy just didn't get it.
He rolled his eyes. “Wow thanks for that.” He said sarcastically. However, the words did sting, especially since he knew they were true. But, he’d never admit that, especially not right now.
Lachy stood from the couch, mumbling someone under his breath as he went out the front door. Everything was so confusing, the prophecy, Aidan… he took of his shoes and placed his feet in the lake surrounding them.
He sighed softly, knowing he needed to give Lachy his space. “Great job, Aidan. It’s happening again.” He mumbled. It really seemed that at this point, pushing people away was his only talent. He just didn’t know how to explain what went on in his head.
The sun shone down on the camp, coating it in a warm, golden glow that Lachy loved. He swung his feet back and forth, the slightly cool water a contrast to how warm it was outside.
Aidan would stay inside for a few more minutes before realizing he needed to stop being an ass and go apologize. He walked out, standing next to Lachy. “Hey…”
Lachy didn’t glance up at Aidan when he felt his presence. He kept his gaze on the crystal clear water instead, “Hi.”
