Corin flinched. "JUST NOT A MAGICAL ONE!"

“Calm down.” Luciana said, bending down to avoid a branch.

"Sorry…"

“It’s fine plu- ah, we’re here.” Luciana opened the gate, then the door.

“Ah it smells just like we left it.”

"What?"

“I have a sharp nose,” Luciana said, pulling out some parchment, “I’m just making sure no one ransacked the cabin , geez.”

Corin blinked. "You would be able to smell that?"

Luciana blinked, “Am I not supposed to be able to? I mean it’s really annoying sometimes, because if something has a strong smell, I’m like. Dead.”

"Oh….I forgot you're not…..human…."

“Yes, you humans wear perfume. It makes me dead every time. It’s so strong.”

"Oh well I don't…."

“Yeah, I can tell.” Luciana sighed, she squinted, looking closely at the letters- Aiya was right, there were some bolder letters. “Man this is like that one book.”

"What book?"

Luciana tucked a lock of hair with one hand and dipped the quill in a pot of ink, “It’s this fiction book where they had these maps that had writing that could only be seen in certain circumstances.
“Anyways, there was this one girl who left home and when she went back her dad was kidnapped.And all was left a letter, some words were bolded and it spelled out a word. It’s just too bad I can’t remember what the book was called.”

"Uh….interesting…" Corin frowned.

"What do the darker smudges mean?" Aiya dipped a claw in the ink, inspecting it.

“What do you mean?” Luciana asked, frowning as she realized what the letters were spelling out.

"The… bolder… things. They mean something, don't they?"

“Not exactly…” Luciana said, “They… hm. Show that the word is more important? OH. It help emphasize the word.”

(Corin you useless shmuck do something!)

"But like, what if you only took those smudges? And put them together? I mean, the rest of what you read out loud doesn't seem to be of much importance."

Luciana looked at her parchment grimly, “It’s very very bad news.”

"Well, what is it? It doesn't look like much to me…" Aiya looked at the paper.

“‘I’m kidnapped by the king. Get your magic compass and page 127 from All Too Powerful.“

"How could she get kidnapped by the king without anyone noticing? Can't she break herself out? I thought she was like, really super powerful and stuff."

“We’re witches, not gods. We have weaknesses.”

"Like what? You seem pretty capable of beating up some king if you wanted. And couldn't Corin just go tell him to let her go?"

“I’m betting he chained her up, we can’t use magic with bronze touching us. I doubt it. If the king kidnapped what basically is the queen of witches, he has started a small little war. But that’s a good idea. HeY cOrIn.”
