Melissa huffed once again, curling up close. "You're no fun…" She mumbled, nosing into the crook of his shoulder with a weak sigh.
Melissa huffed once again, curling up close. "You're no fun…" She mumbled, nosing into the crook of his shoulder with a weak sigh.
"Yep. That's me. I'm the fuddy duddy." Lucas snickered a bit and rested his head on Melissa's. "And I have both our safety and best interests at heart."
"I know, I know… but I want you home." Melissa whined a little more, kissing against him softly. "It sucks not having you there."
"I know, Mel. I wanna be home too, but you know I can't. We've been over this." Lucas smiled weakly .
"I know that, too…" Melissa mumbled, sighing. "I just- things are not great. I hate that I can't come see you more often. Yet I know my feelings aren't going to change the situation. You need this."
Lucas nodded a bit and sighed again. "I know it's hard Mel, but… we'll get through it together, right?"
Melissa mumbled, curling up closer. “Yeah… but it won’t be easy.” She mumbled, hugging him tightly.
"Well, I don't think that we ever thought it would be." Lucas laughed weakly. "It's gonna be rough, Mel."
“Mm, I had hoped.” Melissa muttered, sighing weakly. “I guess I was hoping for too much.”
"Mm… yeah. I don't think there was really any way that this could have gone smoothly." Lucas sighed.
Melissa groaned, looking up at him. “It’s not fair… why does life hate us?” She whined more, pouting.
"I dunno, Mel." Lucas sighed again and kissed Melissa's cheek. "Life has kinda always hated me."
“Mmm… that’s not nice. You deserve better.” Melissa mumbled, kissing him softly in return. “I’ll see to it that you do get better.”
"Mm… thanks, Mel." Lucas gently returned the kiss and huddled a bit closer. "I appreciate the thought…"
“It’s not just a thought though. I’m gonna figure out how to make things better for you.” Melissa insisted, resting her head against him once more.
"Well, this place is technically supposed to sort that out for me." Lucas shrugged and kissed Melissa's cheek.
“But I want to be able to do it. I want to be able to make you happy.” Melissa insisted, looking up at him with a pouty expression.
"I know, Mel… you coming to visit is helpful?" He toyed with Melissa's hair a bit. "I like to hear from you."
Melissa nodded a little, seeming to relax at him playing with her hair. Though she seemed to remember something, sitting up in his arms. "Oh- right. I um… I have a "surprise"… though I'm not sure you'll like it."
Lucas looked up at Melissa curiously. "Oh? What's the surprise?" He asked. "Why don't you think I'll like it?"
"Um, well…" Melissa trailed off, reaching back to undo the loose pony tail she had. With her hair loose, it fell over her shoulders- a lot shorter than it had been before. "Because of this." She mumbled, referring to her shorter hair.
Lucas eyed Melissa's hair curiously, clearly a bit surprised by how much shorter it was. "Why would I be mad?" He asked. "It's your hair, after all, and I think it looks nice on you."
"You do?" Melissa asked softly, tucking it back behind her ear. "Oh- and um… well you said you liked it long… I just… I wasn't sure you'd… y'know."
"Well, I do like it long, but I like it like this too." Lucas smiled softly. "I think you look great, Melissa."
Melissa nodded gently, flicking her gaze off of him. "Thanks, Lu…" She whispered, curling back up against him.
"No problem, Mel." Lucas kissed Melissa softly and buried his face in her shoulder. "I love you~…" He purred.
Melissa giggled, resting her head against him with a sigh. "I love you too, darling. I'm so glad I can get to see you."
"I'm glad too, Mel… I've really missed getting to visit with you, you know. I love you a whole lot."
"I love you a lot, too. I'd do almost anything for you…" Melissa whispered, small figure curling up a little closer.
"Mm… ditto." Lucas ran his fingers through Melissa's hair gently. "I'd prefer not to break the law, though."
