"Well, you said that's what it feels like even without anything. So I'm sure it's a million times worse on the wrong meds." Melissa sighed weakly as she gave a gentle squeeze to his hand.
"Well, you said that's what it feels like even without anything. So I'm sure it's a million times worse on the wrong meds." Melissa sighed weakly as she gave a gentle squeeze to his hand.
Lucas sighed and nodded. "I just… it's like my voice of reason wasn't there at all. There was only the panicky part of my mind telling me that everything was my fault and that the only option was to kill myself."
“I’m assuming now, you know that’s not true?” Melissa asked hesitantly, biting into her lip. “Like, there’s other options- not that it’s your fault or anything.”
"Yeah, of course, Mel… my voice of reason is back." Lucas laughed weakly. "The other voice is still there, but I've got more control over it."
Melissa nodded a little, giving him a soft smile. "Well, that's good. Not the other voice, but- y'know what I mean."
"I know…" Lucas smiled weakly in return. "The meds are helping now that I'm on the right ones. I think they're going to try and introduce some anxiety medication as well."
"That's good… I don't think I asked, but how are you doing with all of this? Any better than last time?" Melissa asked softly.
Lucas shrugged. "I'd say so? I was pretty mopey last time you came, but I was still on the wrong meds. I think I'm better than last time, at least."
"Mm, you seemed happier when you came in. Though I wasn't sure if that was because of the puppy or not." Melissa smiled in a teasing manner.
Lucas smiled softly and held Cody closer. "Fair, but some of it is due to the meds and therapy. I'm still not the biggest fan of this place, but I think it's helping."
"That's good." Melissa hummed, pursing her lips a little. "Not you not liking it, but that it's helping. It makes things feel a little better, so it doesn't feel pointless."
Lucas nodded a bit, petting Cody with a soft sigh. "Maybe you should bring your dad next time. It… it might be helpful for him to see that I'm at least doing somewhat better."
"If I can get him to come, then I will. He's just as busy as I am, though. Probably more so." Melissa sighed weakly, slumping down into her chair. "I'll do my best, though."
"Alright…" Lucas held a bit tighter to Melissa's hand, tapping one foot on the floor nervously. "I think you have to go soon…"
"But I don't want toooo…" Melissa pouted, sitting back up. She kept her hold on him the same, pulling his hand up to her face. "I want to stay here with you…"
"I know, Mel, but the visiting hours are only so long…" Lucas sighed, gently brushing his fingers across Melissa's cheek. "That's definitely out of my control."
"Can't you tell them it's a matter between life, and death?" Melissa whined a bit more, looking up at him with a pout. "Then maybe I can stay for longer…"
Lucas laughed weakly. "How is it a matter of life and death, darling?" He asked, keeping his hand on Melissa's cheek.
“It just is…” Melissa mumbled, looking up at him. “I can’t go back home. I just can’t.” She sighed weakly as she looked up at him.
"Why can't you?" Lucas asked with a concerned expression. "You didn't get into trouble with your mother or something, did you?"
“No… I just don’t want to leave you. So I’m making excuses.” Melissa mumbled, holding his hand to her face. “Everything’s fine at the house.”
Lucas sighed softly. "I know you wanna stay longer, and I'd love you to, but I still don't have any control over the visiting hours."
Melissa groaned, still pouting a bit. “It’s not fair… I want to stay here, with you. Pleaseeee?”
"Melissa, you know that I can't do anything about it…" Lucas sighed again. "It's not in my hands at this point."
“I know… but I’m being difficult. Maybe they can’t make me leave, then.” Melissa mumbled, kissing the back of his hand.
"They might ban you from coming back if you're being difficult, and I don't think either of us wants that."
“Hnnng… but I wanna stay.” Melissa pouted still, looking up at him. “Pleaseee… don’t let them make me leave.”
"Melissa… please don't try and guilt me. You know there's nothing I can do, even though I'd love for you to stay. I don't get to change the visiting hours."
Melissa nodded a little, lifting her head. “Alright- alright… I’m sorry… I really want to stay, even though I know it won’t do anything pouting to you.”
Lucas nodded a bit as well and linked his fingers with Melissa's. "I know… I don't think you'd really like it here, though. It's not very fun."
