Alex hummed happily.
Alex hummed happily.
Gabe pulled the basket over, letting it sit next to them.
Alex leaned his head on Gabe's shoulder.
Gabe rubbed Alex's hand again, not daring to kiss him out here in public. That could wait till they got home.
Alex looked up at him. He sat up, thinking for a moment that he heard footsteps, but he didn't see anyone, so he relaxed again.
Gabe didn't hear the footsteps, content to spend this time with Alex.
Alex frowned a little, thinking again that he heard something, but he didn't see anything.
Gabe's smile dipped when he saw Alex's frown.
"What's wrong?" He asked gently.
"I… thought I heard something." He said slowly.
Gabe frowned a little at that.
"Do you want to leave?"
"I…I don't know." He said softly.
"Alright. We will if we need to, okay?" Gabe lightly patted Alex's hand.
He nodded a little. "Okay."
Gabe hesitated a moment, then gently kissed Alex's cheek.
Alex smiled faintly at that.
Gabe smiled back, pulling away.
Alex leaned his head on Gabe's shoulder.
Gabe let out a faint hum, staying close to Alex with one arm around him.
This time, the footsteps were audible to both of them, coming up from behind.
Gabe pulled away from Alex now, turning to see who was coming.
A tall man stood, looking down at them with narrowed eyes. His hair was a light brown, and he looked rather well-off. These things in themselves was nothing strange; what was strange was the way his eyes had snagged on Alex.
Gabe frowned a bit, moving a little to be more between the man and Alex.
"Can I help you?" He didn't know why, but the man set him on edge.
The man let out a breath. "I wasn't expecting to see you around here still, Alexander." he said, lip curling in a faint sneer. Alex's eyes went wide, and he clung to Gabe, hiding his face. "Go away." he said quietly. "Please."
Gabe moved himself completely between Alex and the man, one arm moving slightly around the man behind him.
"I would suggest leaving," Gabe said. "I'm not know for being kind to those that hurt the people I choose to help." His face grew hard.
"Me, hurt him?" Henry sneered again. "Do you even know what he's done?" He gestured to Alex. Alex flinched, clinging to Gabe's arm.
"It doesn't matter what someone has done. What matters is how you act now. And you, my good sir, are being an ass." Gabe sneered this time. He turned to Alex a moment, face softening.
"Let's go back," he said softly. "I don't want this man harassing you any more."
"That's Henry." Alex whispered, hiding his face in Gabe's shoulder, trembling a little bit.
Henry crossed his arms.
Gabe was still a moment. Then, he stood, glaring at Henry. He clenched his fist, so, so close to punching this man.
"How dare you ask me if I know what Alex had done. You're the reason he's so… So broken. You're the reason he was sent away, and- and-" Gabe was furious.

Henry snorted, lip curling. "He was broken long before I met him." He retorted. "I just wish I had recognized it sooner, before he twisted my mind to be almost as sick as his."
