"Mmmm… I dunno. Can I go to work with you?" Nix asked, turning his eyes up to Halm's face and wrapping his arms around the god's neck.
"Mmmm… I dunno. Can I go to work with you?" Nix asked, turning his eyes up to Halm's face and wrapping his arms around the god's neck.
"Of course you can." Halm smiled, arms resting on Nix's waist. He smiled at Nix.
"You just want to head out now then?"
"Sure. Sounds good to me." Nix smiled in return and shifted so that Halm could pick him up more easily. "What are you doing today?" He asked.
Halm gratefully picked Nix up, standing as he started out the door.
"Today is a harvesting day," he explained. "I'll be collecting all the souls that are ready, then send them off."
"Okay. Can I help with that?" He asked, resting his head on Halm's shoulder as he was carried outside.
"You can help with the first part," Halm said. He carried Nix into the garden, setting Nix down as he kneeled by some of the flowers. They had bloomed already, the souls curled up in the center.
"The second part could be dangerous for you. It includes the water that… Well, you know."
"Right…" Nix knelt beside Halm and eyed the flowers curiously. "How do we get them out without damaging them?" He asked.
"This would probably be the best way for you to," Halm said, thinking a moment. He pulled down lightly on one of the petals, slipping two fingers under the soul. He gently pulled it away from the flower. It popped out, rolling into his palm easily.
"I'll be right here if you have any struggles."
Nix nodded and mimicked Halm, gently sliding one hand under a soul. He felt safer using his full hand since Halm's fingers were considerably larger than his. He carefully pulled out the soul and cradled it in his hands.
Halm smiled gently.
"Good," he praised. Nix was being gentle with the soul, that was the best thing to do. Halm set the soul he was holding in his basket.
"We can put them here so we don't hurt them," Halm explained.
Nix nodded again, carefully slipping the soul into the basket and moving on to another flower. He pulled out the soul and examined it curiously.
Halm smiled, kissing Nix's forehead.
"You're doing great." The soul didn't have much shape let after the memories were taken, just a vague humanoid shape. The legs were pulled close to their chest, arms wrapped around them. Halm continued to gather souls as well.
(Pretty sure you misspelled memories lmaooo)
Nix smiled softly and tipped that soul into the basket as well. He continued along with Halm, gently collecting more souls.
(no it's definitely spelled that way)
(FUCKING AUTOCORRECT IS FUCKING FUCK)
Halm worked quietly next to Nix, glancing over occasionally to give him a smile. He was doing great. Halm began to hum softly, a soft lullaby. His deep voice wasn't gravely as he hummed, deep and soft.
Nix relaxed a bit at the song, gathering a couple more souls and placing them into the basket gently. He yawned a bit, his tail swaying.
Halm looked over when Nix yawned, still humming. He reached over, gently patting Nix's head.
Nix leaned into Halm's hand and purred softly, pausing in his work for the moment in favor of attention.
Halm moved his hand down to cup Nix's cheek, rubbing him with his thumb.
Nix closed his eyes, smiling softly as Halm pet him. He turned his ears back, melting into the other's touch.
Halm smiled gently. They had almost finished the work anyway. He reached over with his other hand, pulling Nix to himself gently. He picked up the cat, still running his cheek as he stood and picked up the basket.
Nix huddled up against Halm and nuzzled against his cheek, relaxing and getting himself more comfortable in the other's arms.
Halm started towards the river, then paused.
"Nix, I think it'd be best if you closed your eyes for this," Halm said.
"Way ahead of you." Nix had his face buried in Halm's shoulder and was humming to himself, flattening his ears back to try and block some of the sounds of the river.
Halm kissed the side of Nix's head, starting to hum again for Nix's benefit. He knelt by the river, making sure Nix wasn't too close. He slowly started adding the souls, rubbing Nix's back as he worked.
Nix kept his tail curled up tightly against himself so it wouldn't touch the water by mistake. He clung as tightly to Halm as he could, not wanting to have any risk of falling.
Halm had his arm securely around Nix, but he went quickly anyway. Soon, he moved back, the basket empty. He turned, making his way away.
"I'm done," he told Nix gently, rubbing his back.
"Yaaaay…" Nix stayed close to Halm, his voice a bit muffled. "Should we head back to the house now?" He asked.
"It's what I was planning on," Halm said. He wrapped both arms around Nix, the basket gone now. He kissed Nix's head again.
