She finished her project. It was an alert system to warn others if the ship was going off course. It was pretty neat.
(Wheres the captain rn?)

(He's currently in the engine room making checks on the equipment to make sure the ship doesn't go hurtling down to the Earth and killing them.)
(Wheres Allisons post?)
(Shawn's post is in his room. He just tinkers with stuff and makes new stuff.)
(Okay but what about Allison's post?)
(I think you're supposed to decide that. I'd say probably in the engine room, since, y'know, she's the mechanic, but I guess that's up to you)
(Okay)
"Hey, Captain! I made something I think you might like!" Allison said. The golden shine of the outer rim of the fog light made it really aesthetically pleasing.
(As the resident nerd I can confirm that mechanics tend to work where their skills are required 87% of the time. What about the other 13%? you say! Well, those are secrets no mortal was meant to know! eldritch horror squelching noises-)
"Right, uh huh," he said without paying attention. Right now he was arms-deep in a tangle of tubes and cogs and assorted metal pried up from the floor that was rattling seemingly nonstop. "Can you get me the emergency toolkit? S'over on the bench by the furnace." he waved a hand blackened by grease and gunk, and resumed his digging through the ship's components.
(Okay I have done some looking of things up and I believe it would be reasonable for there to be some radio communication but with the state of this world and our own historical context I'm drawing this from it would be reserved for military and the wealthy.)
(It would be probably very early stages and honestly I don't know about this stuff to decide so shrugs it's. Please don't expect me to Know Things.)
(yeah. This takes place approximately 1800's, yes? In which case, there is only limited radio (highly limited))
(Well I'm not sure what their year would be but it is based off of the Victiorian Era-ish/Industrial Revolution-ish plus a bit when Cathrine the Great was ruling but that's more the political system… and also not really also I'm gonna be offline for now see ya guys later!)
Allison got the emergency toolkit from off the bench.
"So, basically, its a fog light" Allison explained as she walked back over to Lio. "It beams only when theres thick clouds or fog and it brightens the path up so the navigatiors and such can see better!. Pretty cool if I do say so myself."
((Um, pretty sure that's the job of the navigator/lookout, but i dunno))

(Well what if you were lost in the air with no sense of direction, and the compass isn't being helpful?)
(that's…basically Andre and Carsyn's jobs, Divine Irish Potato)
((if they're doing their job correctly, they wouldn't be lost, and there's always other ways of navigation. you do realize that pirates of ye olden days used multiple methods of navigation, correct? like the sky?))
(Well, im trying to make their jobs easier, okay? Not to be rude…)
((if they're doing their job correctly, they wouldn't be lost, and there's always other ways of navigation. you do realize that pirates of ye olden days used multiple methods of navigation, correct? like the sky?))
(We cant use the sky because we're in the sky)

(uh. Yes, we can? The ship is not literally flying in the stars, and that's what a lot of sailors and navigators used to use and sometimes still do. We can still use the fucking sky)

(My bad, Im just trying for my character to be more than a hot chick who drinks and make her somewhat useful)

(M'kay. So the idea for an addition to the navigational system is great, that's not what we're going "???" about. The thing that we're going "???" about is that your invention literally destroys a massive part of Carsyn's job, and a good part of Andre's as well. A navigational supplement, like a secondary device possibly to help in the case of thick clouds or fog would be great, esp. if it was something that could specifically help Carsyn. But the device you settled on is one: too advanced for the time period and two: renders Circe's character pretty much useless)

(I fixed it to where its now a 1800s verison of a fog light)

(Much better, thank you)
(On with the roleplay!)
The cook's gaze stayed staring at Andre listening intently before looking around the area then the controls. Rael chuckled along giving a little nod. "Such a role comes with a great responsibility and a specific set of skills, I suppose.", he smiled,"You, my dearie, are doing a marvelous job though, even if you're on autopilot." Using his right hand, he gently rubbed Andre's back before giving a light pat.
In the corner of his eye, he noticed someone else. His eyes weren't the best even in certain lighting. Rael placed a foot back to turn and get a better look. "Oh hey Carsyn.", he gleamed before inquiring,"Is something wrong, sweetheart?"
Andre smiled a bit. "Thanks, Rael. But hey, I couldn't do this without an excellent cook." he glanced up, eyes landing on Carsyn. "Did you see anything, or are we in the clear still?" he raised his eyebrows for a moment before having to return his attentions to the panelling, to the controls before him.
Carsyn smiled at Rael and offered a small flick of her fingers in greeting. Once Andre turned towards her, she inched further into the room and skirted around the cook, trying to leave as little water in the men's way as possible. She waited until Andre could see her again before quickly flashing a thumbs up, indicating an all-clear for now. It was like a dance between them, with their corresponding jobs. The thrum of the ship around her in this room and the meticulous way Andre moved around almost soothed her. The sounds—they weren't the booming of thunder.
